  1. Been a fan forever~ My family watches episodes each holiday. It's a tradition! Inspired by my mother. And, I'm excited to share this with my son, who thankfully-- also shares my enthusiasm.. :jc_doublethumbup: Any help on getting started appreciated~~

Greetings Chaundra, and WELCOME TO FISD!! I like your tradition, sounds very cool!

The thread Kyle posted is very helpful. :) I've read and re-read that a million times.

Feel free to ask questions after you've given that a looksee.  So glad to see so many new people!

    Enjoy your time here! Jenny

  2. I could use some input on how to fit the butt plate.

I've attached a photo of my rear where you cleary see the butt plate sticking out. This is the first time I wear the suit, so

there is a few more things i need to adjust, but this is the most obvious.

I'm thinking about either strapping it to the kidney plate, or a horizontal strap to the cod area.

Is it also possible to heat the piece a bit and bend it a bit, to maybe get a more fitting curve?

    What do you think?

I've also attached a photo of how the strapping is now.

I wear my canvas belt just a bit lower so it rests on the butt and kidney plate.  To make the belt STAY I added velcro on the outside

of my armor and velcro to the inside of my belt. I've had to re-do the velcro a few times, but it pretty much works for me. Like most

things... trial and error.  :)  Once you get that fixed you'll have a fine looking butt plate.

  3. Hi David, and WELCOME!

I found this info, and you have probably already viewed it, too.

I've not heard of a website, but they don't let me out much.

YES. THIS IS AWESOME! You were RIGHT about that.

    :salute:  Carry on FUTURE TROOPAH!

    Type: ATA (Affordable Trooper Armor)
    Country: USA
Contact: Supertrooper on FISD / ATAworks@yahoo.com, please email for armor inquiries.

    Hey all,

I'm just a beginner to all of this, being doing alot of research....looking to invest in the ATA, but not quite sure if they have a website or what at this time.

Both me any my son are HUGE fans, so this is going to be awesome!!!

  4. Hi Diana!

The 7's fit just right. They are not too big.  :) My usual shoe size is 8.5 - sometimes a 9. I might run more toward a wider shoe, but you know all shoes stretch out a little. I'm use to always having a heel and since these have no heel.. they still seem weird when I wear them. I think that's just me... always wanting more height! I wear normal no show socks and they do fine. I've got some running shoes that seem to pull my socks down after awhile, but these boots don't do that.. so that's good! It's kinda funny seeing how WHITE those boots are in that pic... they are all scuffed up now... which is how we like em! If you are an 8 1/2 you'll be good with TK size 7. Your foot might be a bit smaller than mine... but you know how thicker socks can fix that.  Enjoy your build!!! Jenny

  5. Hey Bryan and WELCOME!

I love your reasons for wanting to build your ROTJ armor. That's what it's all about. :)  Take your time and read, then read, and then read some more. Actually, it's not THAT much reading, and I love learning all the subtle differences. There are plenty of smaller things you can work on while deciding which armor and which maker. Oh, and dont fret over messing stuff up because almost everything IS fixable.  E6000 glue, or superglue and some sanding, and it's all fine. :)  You'll do just fine. You can sign up with your local garrison and go out and talk to them at their next troop.  http://www.greatlakesgarrison.com/  I bet they're really nice!!!

    Cheers! Jenny

  7. Hi there, I am a newbie with an FX kit I bought from ebay back in 2008,

I have also got a MRCE lid and an extra FX lid (also bought way back in 2008)

I finally thought it was time to get motivated and make a move on the building process, so I have made a start this afternoon and assembled one of the forearms using 2 part epoxy.

The FISD has been a great resource for me as a long time Star Wars fan but novice suit builder and I can see the suit finally getting completed sooner rather than later.

The longest journey starts with the smallest step, hopefully I am now on the road to a great destination.

    Regards

    Garry

  8. Hi Jason and welcome to FISD. You've chosen wisely, IMO! :) You'll find lots of info on the armor makers and different styles in the "getting started" area. I think there is child sized armor being made, too! There are threads on that floating around here. Hope you have fun searching this site and I'm sure you'll make new friends online and in your garrison. Cheers!
