That looks amazing man really great work. I like the paint job. Did you spray paint? and if you did how did you tape off? The reason I ask is the lines look really sharp, which looks incredible.
Thanks Erik
I just used some rustoleum enamel spray paint, and including the white base paint I probably spent a total of $15 dollars on all the cans I needed. I had never taped anything off like this before, but it only took me about two days to tape it all off and paint. It probably wasn't the best way, but I tried to get the tape as close to where I wanted it as possible, then I took my exacto and very lightly scored any excess that needed to be took off, then peeled it. It worked pretty good for me, and it didn't cut the paint under the tape.
The weathering was really fun. I just scuffed it all up a bit with some steel wool, then took some 400 grit and folded it and used that to make the bigger scratches. Then just watered down some black acrylic, brushed it on and wiped off. Took me about 2 hours.

it looks really good i like the weathering details.
Thanks!

Also the back brace for my thighs is just not working at all. I want to make a proper garter at some point.

Hey everyone, I finished painting up my very first kit (ATA), and have everything weathered except the thighs.
How does it look? (be honest so I can fix problems) Thanks everyone!

I have a neckseal, but wasn't wearing it in the shots...same goes for my ammo pouch. Also, I don't have a belt or pauldron and I think that's all that's left. Unfortunately they will have to wait indefinitely, since I have run out of my savings set aside for this.
Oh, and disregard the crazy forearms They are extremely loose and were spinning around like crazy. I will put some foam in them to help take care of it.
Thanks

i have a strap that wraps around the top of my chest plate (just below the shoulder strap) and 2 small velcro tabs to keep it from moving around
I hate to trouble you, but could you please show me a pic of how you did it on your incinerator?
Thanks

yes, just try to keep the weathering colors to gray and black, not brown or tan like a sandtrooper. its more of a blackened scuffed up look. but i guess the key is to not go overboard.
for the scratches i just used the tip of an exacto knife, and lightly scored the lines in the paints surface
Hopefully mine is good to go. The rest of the armor has the same amount (or less) of weathering and blackening; I just used some watered down black acrylic, sandpaper, and steel wool to help scuff up the pieces that were really smooth and glossy a bit.
Thanks guys

Hello everyone,
looking over the CRL for the Incinerator, it says that "Armor and paint should be lightly scuffed, but not weathered." Looking at the high resolution screens of it from the game, it is extensively weathered. I have already weathered mine, so hopefully this is some sort of mistake.

So it runs across the front of the chest under the pauldron?
Thanks

Hey everyone,
Can you give me some tips on how some of you have mounted your ammo pouches? I have my shoulders strapped to my chest/back strap and not across behind my neck.
Thanks

none of the game versions have the red handguard, only the action figure.. i think that's a typo, the action figure only has one red hanguard, i would leave them white myself, heck i couldn't paint my silicon hand guards red anyway, they would turn pink when the paint chips off
Thanks for your help
I feel like I should get the action figure to go on my desk, put it next to my helmet

Hey everyone,
All reference pics I have looked at show the handguards as unpainted, but the CRL says they should be painted red. Does it really matter which I go with?
-
Thanks everyone! Got the rest painted up. Ill put it on in a day or two and see how it all looks.

I would like to put something together like this for my incinerator after I finish it, but I doubt I could pull something like that off. I will be sticking with an E-11 for the time being . It looks awesome by the way!

Hmm, the chest looks really messed up in that picture, but if I look at it straight on in person it looks good. *shrug*

Hello,
Thanks to all of those who helped me out telling me how to tape it up to paint, and for giving me tips. Here is what I have done so far. Please tell me what you think and things I may have done wrong.
Thanks!
The helmet still needs work, I am just going to wait to put the brow trim, mic tips, and lenses back until after I get done weathering it. I also need to clean things up around the vocoder...fill in the white with some black

And finally the ammo pouch I am going to use:

I get my leather belt yesterday, I have to cut it in order to make it 2.5" wide and replace my 3" canva belt with it
Next, I will modify the ammo pouch to be more accurate ^^
Then, when all that points will be done (and when I will receive the last trims), I'll paint and weather it all again
Is the accurate belt leather? I have been looking to get mine, and don't want to get the wrong one for the INC. The CRL is showing canvas.
Thanks guys

which one?
Seems like they all have a new layout

Anyone notice the new requirements sections? It is a lot more detailed.

Thats awesome

I use blue painter's tape, just make sure the undercoat is good and dry. Otherwise it will make a texture in your paint while removing the tape.
How did you get such great weathering on the blue section of your helmet? Anything I need to do while the paint hasn't fully dried?
Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone,
I am going to finish up my first kit (ATA) as an Incinerator, and had some questions about how to paint the red. I just got done painting the entire kit with some Rustoleum enamel, and everything else is finished... straps, snaps, helmet done, etc. I have been looking at the build threads for the incinerators here on the forums, and I am wondering how I go about taping the helmet and armor off in order to paint the red.
Should I use painters tape? I am familiar with the blue painters tape, but I have seen pics where people have used green tape... Is this the same?
Any tips for making both thighs, forearms, etc the same?
Thanks

you should be able to weather the shiny helmet fine.. but like Sean said light sanding to add scuffing in some areas.. but it is really up to you and how you want it to look..
the pouch is fine but the ICN has another small pouch attached to the side like so
you could just add on another small pouch
here are some pics of my helmet weathering.. i just polished it up and added more weathering
whether it is dull or shiny that is up to you i had it dull before but i just added a shiny clear coat and i love it myself
Where could i pick up a small pouch like that?
Thanks for all your help!
Oh, and that helmet looks awesome by the way.

It seems that I should probably sand it a bit like you said, as much as it would kill me to sand a shiny helmet , or would it be fine to leave it and just weather.
Incinerator test fit. How is it looking?

I really need to mark on it which side is up. Ill do that now. Thanks
One side has a lot more of a return "edge", does that side go up or down?
