Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am working on this too... Since I am not going to use a holster, are the snaps on the ab necessary?
Thanks

How much is it to have a completed suit if you make some of it yourself (skin body suit, etc.)?

I am pretty sure Mason used a 4" THIN walled pvc tube. You don't want the regular PVC as it is too thick and heavy.
Ask someone for the thin walled stuff. You may have to buy a 10 or 12 ft section though.
Thanks

Looks great! I hope to start on mine this weekend. I hope you don't mind if I use some pics of all your flamethrower builds for ideas and reference. If you don't mind me asking, what do you use as the "tube"? What I saw at Lowe's was some pretty thick PVC, and it has me worried about weight.
Thanks

Hey everyone,
I was checking out this thread on RPF: http://www.therpf.com/f9/dlt-19-foam-pvc-90226/
In his first post, the link is broken for the templates, does anyone have these or know where to find them?
Thanks

I got ALL my odds and ends. Velcro, webbing, elastic, snaps etc off ebay.
Ebay isn't that bad. I found EVERYTHING I wanted there and generally cheaper than what you'd pay in a shop.
Same for me

Hi Guys,
Where would you suggest that I go to to get some elastic bands?
I need different widths and it seems darn hard to find.
Any suggestions?
Got my elastic on ebay:-----

And also one of these-----------

Something like this all-in-one unit perhaps?

They have different ones

How big are your shoulders, dude?!?
lol, I had to lower my back plate a bit so all the pieces sit flush and there are no gaps between the kidney, butt, etc. I originally had the six ridges on the front, but the bridges were barely long enough, so I decided to do 3 instead so I have a little leeway.
-
Thanks guys, picked up some 2" PVC today. They didn't have grey, so it looks like I am going to have to paint.

Out of curiosity, who was the vendor?

I have an ATA kit, and I didn't have anything like that on my helmet.

Hey everyone,
I am going to try and get my thermal detonator put together this evening. What size pipe do I need? I saw in the CRL the pipe needs to be 2-2.5" but don't the end pieces need to fit snug? I have an ATA kit.
Thanks

I personally couldn't put all 6 ridges on the front. I think i did about 3 so the bridges would actually reach to the back plate.

I'm a big Star Wars fan and have always had a penchant for stormtroopers. I'm looking to get an armor set of my own worthy of approval by the 501st. I've read a bit from relevant topics, but still have a lot to figure out, so any help in pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
I'm 6'2'', 160-170 lbs... tall and slim. I'm looking for armor that's close to screen accurate or whatever is popular in the 501st and not too expensive. $1500 from jedi-robe.com and $2500ish from originalstormtrooper.com (Shepperton Design Studios) seems like a lot more than I'd like to spend. I have no qualms about assembling a kit, since I'm pretty handy, though I wouldn't want a kit that needs to be painted all white, but I have no problem painting details on the helmet.
Again, thanks for any help.
Hey Richard,
There are a lot of kits that you can buy cheaper than those. I bought my first complete kit about 2 or so month ago from ATA and it cost me around $400. There are alot better pictures of his kit here on FISD, but here is mine that I haven't finished yet: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=15009

It was probably a bad idea, but since the winter is usually so harsh here I painted 3/4 of my kit in the spare room of my apartment. Drop cloths top to bottom with both windows open and floor fans in them. Turned out alright But yea, the can should tell you about temperature and humidity.

Hello everyone,
I bought a gotarmor neckseal a month or so ago and I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem. The neckseal seems to be too tall for my neck, and it makes it uncomfortable to wear. Have any of you cut the neckseal to make it shorter?

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Yeah,
The buttons are on ROTJ style which is the opposite to ANH....
Thanks!, I will add that to my to-do list.
-
Your second link they are on ROTJ style which is upside down to ANH/ESB
So in my incinerator pics, I need to flip them to be ANH?
Thanks
I might as well wait until I can get a belt, should help it out like darktrooper said

Hello everyone,
in this thread, I was told my kidney plate was upside down: ----
I switched it before my latest test fit, and I am told it looks upside down still:------
Which way is correct?
One side of my kidney plate has a much larger return edge, and at the moment that is facing down. Should it be up?
Thanks

I am also wondering whether or not to cut that bit off with the metal ring, anyone know?
