Worked on my helmet a bit this weekend... first we primed the interior with an off-white primer... we were out of white, and it didn't matter because this was getting painted over as well. After this dried, we sprayed the interior of both sides with truck bed liner Painted the mic tips... Assembled front and back, just to see how things are lining up... I ended up trimming the frown out a lot more, was being cautious here... Masked off and painted frown... waiting to hear back from Trooperbay about Dave M decals... not comfortable painting the traps/tears. When I assembled the ears, my face shifted up a little, so I will be trimming the brow a little... i don't like the unibrow look - but i don't want to go as extreme as some of the TDs are...

Hey guys! I've sold my AM armor as I wanted to change gears a bit, and figured this set would be better suited to someone ready to build right now - so this is now my ATA Helmet build thread - Pics coming soon!

Getting back into this project tomorrow... curious about replacing the chest/back with RT-Mod - does anybody have a comparison of the parts so I can see if color matches close enough? I've been searching but not found anything.

I like the Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner spray. that's inside my clone and it works great!

The replacement plastic was the exact same. I'm just going to build it and use as much of the scrap I trim off as I can, and use the replacement stuff as backing for the shims. So weird.

So I emailed pics, and it seems I am getting new plastic sent out to me. I hope it matches! For reference, here's my existing plastic, both with and without flash:

Oh yes, lol. my TB is just about done, I didn't take many pics because i'm lazy. But once my bund/vest is done it's ready for approval. Then, it's on to this one. If I get the TK done for Celebration, that's fine... if not, I'll have something to do over the fall!

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure I will be cutting pieces off of the front (to get that vertical line not so wide) so I will do my best to salvage as much of that as I can.The parts I'm most concerned about are the legs - the fronts are always visible on those. Biceps and forearms are a little different, with the 'detail' parts being the sides. Thanks for all the comments guys!

That doesn't make any sense to me why the armor would ship with two different shades of plastic... I could understand using them for the backing strips, but you would think they could just cut up some of the same ABS the armor is pulled from.

How noticeable is it when assembled?

First things first, start SLOW. Put the tip of the drill bit right in the center of the rivet, and TAKE YOUR TIME. After a while the rivet will just fall out. I just had to drill out rivets on my Scout bucket and although it was nerve-wracking, it ended up OK.

I noticed something a little odd last night, the shade of white between the armor kit and the cover strip plastic is a different shade... is that normal?

Yup! I was feeling a bit left out, lol

My screen name came from my old AOL screen name... I made it back in the 90s when I was HUGE into listening to MxPx. Robbie is my first name, so I just sorta put the two together. It's been my name online for everything since. Bonus - it's usually available everywhere. If it isn't, that means I probably just forgot my password, lol I do get a lot of people mispronouncing it though... things like 'mpxrobbie', 'mixpixrobbie', etc... it's M-X-P-X-Robbie in case you're wondering

That's exactly what I have... bought a big roll of it when I built my clone... if there is a need for it I'd be glad to open up a run of it for as long as my supply lasts.

It comes with a lot of the helmet kits, but if you need some it's window screen mesh. I use the plastic variety. I can send you some if you like

It's important in this hobby to realize that people who make things are typically one-man jobs. I know some Fett costumers who wait over a year for specific parts. Reputable sellers get behind too, and we most all have day jobs.

I got rid of my whole FX kit.

I'm looking to replace FX helmet with ATA or MTK... I have a large head (7 5/8 hat size) and I'm 6'3". I'm going to be building AM armor. Which of these two buckets is best for me? Thanks folks!

Don't think of it as wasting $166, but instead saving about $900. What's your measurements? I'm sure we can help you find the right suit!
