Buon anno.
  3. Ok, but there are many pics about how they have to be. You should take a look at the movie screenshots before proceeding.
  4. He replied my messages and yes, he's very kind.
  5. Ok, my question is... where did you read about cutting the ends of the straps to match the TKC? And then you've answered my question... So the next question comes out automatically: why did you cut them?
  6. Thank you Andy, you've been very helpful. Actually I'm not very interested in lineage, I have an old TE armour (eheh, I like to write "armoUr" when I write to english people and "armOr" when I write to US people ), with some missing parts and I would like to finish it because I have a buyer here in Italy interested in my armour (I have to meet him at 2nd September in a Con). I asked to a known provider but he has too long times, because he put me at the bottom of his list for spare parts, he uses to provide full kits (I don't tell his name for privacy, since we dealed by PM), and I'm defenetely running out of time. Just one question: does anybody know how gloss HIPS behave? I mean... does it get yellow when it gets old? Or is that like ABS (yes, ABS gets yellow but very slowly and not a lot)? Edit: looking at your pic I'm pretty sure it's a TE derived armour.
  7. I think you got it, it looks like a TE lineage to me either. The point is the HIPS he uses seems to be very good and gloss. I hoped he would be a member of this forum to ask him info directly.
  8. He provides pieces in HIPS at reasonable prices on ebay, and they look quite good. Low detailed, but good for replacment of spare parts which are not provided frequently by known providers. http://www.ebay.it/i...8#ht_500wt_1054 Anyone from UK Garrison knows him? I've used the "forum search" but with no result.
  9. You'll take a year in making your own either. Maybe more. Spending much more.
  10. It will, I assure you. A friend of mine made an amazing War-Machine armor by using pepakura and he spent a lot of money for a fiberglass costume (which is not approved in 501st I think, but I could be wrong. I've never seen fiberglass stormtrooper armor approved). Yes, I read your goal is to go for a vacuum, but this will further increase your costs. Moreover, as other members already told you, pepakura is not accurate for stormtrooper projects. I saw very amazing Ironman armors coming out from pepakura, but Ironman armors are simmetrical and perfect, while stormtrooper armors are not. So, at last, your choice to go for a kit is the good one.
  11. I agree. I have a TM hero kit too and I'm going to finish it. But I'm not as good as you in assembling helmets.
  12. It's a TrooperMaster kit. He sells hero helmet as well and he is a member of this forum.
  13. Where do you get the movie accurate strapping staff? I mean those " C hooks" to keep armour pieces together and the strapping hooks for the shins. I've looked around but I can't find them so accurate.
  14. I think this is an interesting topic, but I don't want to go off topic, so If there is an off-topic section I think it's a good thing to continue our discussion there. If we're adult enaugh to understand people and avoid flames, I think this could be an interesting interculture confrontation. Edit: ok, I looked for that and haven't find it. In any case I was not saying government must pay for all the cares, but only for those which too much money is required and there is a real danger of life. I consider this the minumum for civilized people. Your money goes and come, life is priceless and once gone it never comes back.
  15. When I hear about stories like this one I have only one word: I-N-S-A-N-E. I'm sorry, I know probably this is not the right moment and the right place to say this, but I can't shut my mouth when I hear of these things. I hope Obahma will do something for this, and will institute the State/mutual aid for people and pets either because pets are living beings, not objects you must repair.
  16. I understand what you're talking about but to me you go in a dead end with this thoughts. I mean... if you look for realism so you might think an empire would never dressed up its soldiers with unpraticable armors. mightn't you? Moreover, armors would be perfect also in shape, not asimmetrical, and the bucket would be wider to let stormtrooper breathe when they run. So, at this point, you could go with a FX with its bucket on and you step back thinking to go forward. It's a loop.
  17. By watching better your first post, I realize the second picture is from TKDUEUNO, a member of this forum who have a TM armor. I don't think he sells his armor, so I think the seller posted a stolen picture, faking his auction.
  18. I think that "evilbay" needs always to be checked. Sometimes it happens you can find something good at a reasonable prices. I bought my first AP helmet on ebay in 2005 directly from authenticprops, and one member of my (ex) garrison got a signed Gerardo Follano in 2004.
  19. Indeed. As someone said above: difects are those things which give armors their personalities.
  20. I think it dipends on what you look for. Some people prefer accuracy, others prefer to look like a power ranger. Sincerly, I've always been thinking about that, and I took my conclusion: In the old trilogy all looks approximate because of the obscurantism. All the things are decadent, so it's hard to imagine the Empire forging new armors for every cadet/clone. It's more realistic to think about the Empire re-use armors of those who fell in battle, and that's why you have rivets, dirty armors, bad-closed helmets, etc...
  21. This is not a bad thing to me. It gives more realism to your final job, I think. In some pics taken from ANH you can see some helmets lost a bit of white painting.
  22. As I said above, I've never seen an AM live, so I can't make a comparison. Your kit is surely a recent recast, but the line is the same of the old FX/GT on the legs, but loooking at the chest piece I realize it's different from the GT older one. Moreover, the oldest FX were uncorrect white blueish colored. This is me in my old FX armor in 2003, while I was still a member of the 501st as TK676.
  23. I've never seen AM armors live. Reading comments seemed they were a bit different to me.
  24. Are you talking about the shape or the sharpness? Because if you're talking about the shape these details are the same of the first FX/GT and lots of ancient 501st members still wear these armors for trooping. If you mean about the sharpness of the details: recasting with a 2mm ABS does not give you sharp details at all. So I don't see anything freaky in this kit, sincerly (apart the thing it's a recast, obviously).
