Ti do pienamente ragione. E' una cosa però che colpisce un po' tutti i gruppi e tutte le passioni, perchè alla fine, in un gruppo, c'è gente che ha diversi princpii: c'è chi li ha più rigidi e chi meno, chi prende la cosa più sul serio e chi meno, etc... Penso sia normale.

OK, letto tutto. Non ci ho capito granchè perchè è più che altro una lite tra TE e Gino su chi ha messo per primo le mani su un originale, ma in generale ho capito la "genalogìa". L'avevo cmq già intraletta di sfuggito su starwarshelmets che cmq viene aggiornato man mano che le cose vengono a galla. Molto interessante cmq, ricordo che quando iniziai io c'erano solo i pezzi TE, GF e Gino come accurati; erano praticamente introvabili e i loro produttori quasi irreperibili (soprattutto Gino e Follano, mentre TrooperExpert girava sui forum senza problemi), vedo che poi Gino è ricomparso.

L'ho pensato anche io, anche se il veditore dice di averla ricavata da un'originale con l'aggiunta di qualche pezzo TE che mancava. Il chest però è strano perchè è più stretto e scende in una forma diversa dal TE2. Quello che ha mandato a me almeno.

Ciao, In realtà a me AP vendette il casco nel 2004 dicendo proprio che era una copia di un SDS, che all'epoca era considerato il non plus ultra, dato che era il maker originale (nessuno sapeva ancora che in realtà le sue armature non erano cast-off orginal in tutto e per tutto). Ad ogni modo non è importante, se mi sbaglio su AP tantomeglio perchè quando ho venduto l'armatura mi è pianto il cuore dover dar via il suo meraviglioso casco. (con tanto di adesivo interno "Masciullo Approved!" ). Prendevo lui solo come esempio, dato che vende su ebay. Perchè io capisco e condivido in pieno il tuo discorso, è l'applicazione che non capisco, dato che è cmq permesso a venditori esterni al gruppo di vendere poi su ebay a chiunque, cosa che va contro la regola base che è poi tracciata dalla stessa Lucasfilm. Per il discorso dei gemelli, invece, il punto è che hanno fatto una copia di un qualcosa che non era ormai più in produzione e di una persona che è completamente scomparsa dalle scene (è diventato proprio irreperibile dopo che la Lucas tentò di fargli causa). Cmq qualcosa che è stato fatto rispettando la regola del gruppo, dato che fu fatto per il gruppo. In ogni caso non è così importante, sono rimasto schockato che nel chiedere e discuterne sul forum la gente abbia pensato male. Era solo la discussione che mi inrigava di più al momento, quando mi sono iscritto, niente più. Mettiti poi nei panni di uno che, come me, sta lontano anni dalle scene e si trova un panorama completamente diverso: al tempo o compravi una FX da un recaster (Galaxy Trading a veva chiuso) o in 501 non entravi, alternative non ce n'erano e quelle che c'erano erano per poche tasche (tolto Messika). Adesso entro e vedo che fare uan cosa del genere è quasi considerata un delitto. E' normale che ci trovo un'incoerenza che mi spiazza.

IL danno che hai fatto tagliando sotto lo hai riparato? Sai che esiste la plastica bicomponente in pasta per riparazioni di questo tipo, vero? La applichi all'interno lungo il solco con precisione e lo chiude. Si vedrà la riga, certo, ma non a una prima occhiata. Con quella pasta io ci ho ricostruito interamente l'interno dei fori oculari dell'elmo Rubies Supreme di Vader, per renderlo movie accurate, come ha fatto Federico (Fedema).

No no, non è la sua. Si il suo lavoro è impressionante e ha tutta la mia stima, ma preferisco la scuola di pensiero del "cast-off original" anche se un recast, piuttosto che il fan-sculpt. Non ti devi vergognare della tua FX: con un buon casco è un'ottima armatura per truppare per ore. E' vero che oggi è possibile reperire armature più accurate, ma non pensare che la gente che ti guarda alle fiere si renda molto conto delle differenze. Potrà notare qualche particolare, certo, ma non sono tutti "malati" a tal punto da vedere le differenze di dettaglio al nostro livello. L'occhio poi tende a cogliere la scenografìa nell'insieme. Quando sei in gruppo difficilmente la gente mette a confronto due truppi per coglierne le differenze, percepisce il quadro generale della spettacolarità del gruppo. Tanto per dirti: per i primi tempi girai con un balster farlocco, che poco centrava con l'E-11, e non se ne accorse praticamente nessuno (degli esterni ovviamente).

Ho notato. Il fatto è che è sensato se è impostato in maniera logica, ma invece non lo è imho. Quando Dale (ex TK510), scultore e realizzatore della FX chiuse i battenti con Galaxy Trading, dove credi che i membri andassero a procurarsi le armature? La 501 si è allargata negli anni con membri che si sono forniti su ebay di armature FX dai più svariati recaster. Questo non vuol dire che chi ruba i lavori altrui e li copia debba essere giustificato, ma di distinguere da caso a caso, non a comodo. Perchè allora o tutti si scambiano le cose all'interno del gruppo, e se vendono su ebay a tutti trasgreidscono le regole (ma a quel punto taglieresti fuori venditori come AuthenticProps), oppure dai la possibilità a tutti di lavorare distinguendo chi è più onesto da chi lo è meno. Invece, a quanto pare, ci sono gli scultori da zero, poi c'è AuthenticProps (che è nato come recaster su ebay tra l'altro, copiando elmetti SDS e TE) e tutti gli altri sono schifosi recaster che non giocano le regole imposte dalla LucasFilm. Alchè io ho chiesto: ma se AP non è membro e vende su ebay, come si fa a dire che segue le regole imposte dalla Lucasfilm? E a questa domanda (a cui però non hanno dato risposta) mi hanno accusato di difendere i recaster. Per me non esiste il cattivone recaster, esiste la persona e i propositi che ha. Se si fa una copia, come nel mio caso, di un Follano, il cui produttore è sparito dalla faccia della terra da anni, come favore tra amici, come si fa a mettere la cosa a confronto con chi invece copia e vende regolarmente su ebay per farci soldi? E' questo che non capisco e chiedevo, tutto li. Ma probabilmente non riesco ad esprimermi in inglese in modo tale da riuscire a farmi capire perfettamente. In ogni caso l'admin mi ha detto che la discussione sui clone-trooper è ancora peggio.

Dice che per i primi post ho difeso i recaster e quindi lui sospetta che lo abbia fatto per vendere il mio casco che è un recast (come se la sua armatura glie l'avesse fatta Lucas in persona e la 501 si fosse fondata su armature originali). In realtà io non difendo i recaster, ho solo detto che non capisco perchè ad alcuni recaster è stata data la possibilità di affermarsi e lavorare, anche se continuano a vendere su ebay, mentre ad altri non è concesso. Tutto li. L'ho poi detto in una sezione aperta apposta per discuterne, se non se ne può discutere tantovale chiuderla. Avrei anche potuto non dire che era un recast di un Follano (che poi... è un recast per dire, perchè i gemelli hanno messo mano al mould), l'ho riportato per correttezza, così come avrei potuto gettarlo direttamente su ebay proprio in pasto ai recasters. Dicendo che è una copia di un Follano vola via in un attimo (visto che non essendocene più in giro l'unica cosa su cui si può mettere mano sono le copie) tant'è che ho già 6 acquirenti statunitensi in coda da questo forum ma preferirei venderlo in europa. A quel prezzo una copia di un Follano migliorata e già montata è regalato, soprattutto al cambio europeo. Mi sembrava un prezzo di scambio tra membri (anche se io sono un ex), mi piace che le cose a cui tengo finiscano in mano ad altri appassionati e non a chicchessìa. Lo vendo perchè il costo per prendere il casco che combacia di colore non era previsto e mi pesa, mica per altro. Inoltre, ho messo al corrente Giancarlo su Facebook che sto vendendo il suo casco.

It was not allowed to take pictures, although lots of people did it with cell-phones, LOL. I was in the armor for whole time. The costumes were on mannequins placed on pedestals. There were only a delimitation area with a red rope and a glass in front, but opened in the back. XD) while the others are all mannequins, the only prop entirely closed in a glass was the Yoda puppet from ESB. I could touch the costumes because we gave some help to prepare the stages in the fair called "Star Wars - The Show". Unfortunately, I,'m trying to find pics for the armor showed there but I can't (I searched on the Italica Garrison site but the gallery have been resized to few pictures). I'll walk around for forums to check for any pics, I'll post them if I'll find them. In any case I'm sure the helmet was not from ANH but I'm not sure about the armor. I believe to remember it was ANH style, but I could be wrong. In any case it was very sturdy.

I did not say that. I would leave the mic opened because I don't have an alternative with this method. I have a ROM/FX too, I was only trying to find a cheaper way to have a good sound voice and asking if someone had already tried this way.

This happens with 90% of the voice-amps as well.

I touched a real stormtrooper armor by lucasfilm in an itinerant fair in 2005 here in Milan (I was there with the 501st). If I don't remember bad It was an ANH stunt armor with a ESB helmet on (maybe the helmet had been lost) and sincerly it seemed made more of styrene than ABS. It was very sturdy and hard, and it was not glossy at all (but maybe because it was very old). In any case it didn't seem so flexble.

Great work man. I think one day I'm going to buy one of your kit for sure. At starwarshelmets.com Jez wrote an article about the first helmets created for ANH. He says in his article that the first 50 helmet were made of green HDPE, a very flexible material used to make milk cartons. So watching the Solo's chest I thought it would be that material, used just for those scenes of hard stunt.

A question about the snap system which I've never used. How do you attach the snaps to the plastic? Do you glue them?

Yep, the idea was to have the channel open for the whole troop. If you check in the movies (expecially ANH) the static burst effect is not so hard, sometimes it is not audible at all. Check this scene for example: You need to pay lot of attention to hear it at the end of every phrase. Moreover, techically hearing the static burst while troopers speak is incorrect, because it is a noise created by the opening of the microphone circuit and audible to the receiver. So it's believable that troopers hear that noise in their helmet when they talk each other via comlink, but not people outside.

In my opinion it's better to free the thighs from the abdominal part if you use the armor for hard trooping. You can fasten your thighs to the abdominal part for one or two shots in a movie, if something goes wrong you can stop the shot and fix it. But in hours of trooping your walking normally starts to lower your thighs and all the rest attached to them. First I used the movie accurate method, but after months of trooping with 501st I changed my position and I fastened the thighs at a black belt under the armor. A friend of mine used a very best method imho for his Gundam/Zaku costume, he fastened the thighs to crossed braces (left thigh on right shoulder and right thigh on the left shoulder). This allows the thighs, and the rest of your armor, to stay in their position even while you run. Just my two cents. Opposite speech if you put the armor on a mannequin of course. There wouldn't be any reason to make inaccurate things.

I was wondering whether walkie talkie could work fine as a voice amp. There are many at reasonable prices out there, you can by a pair of WT with less then 30$ like these ones: ----------- The coolest thing is you speak in a radio, so the effect should be guaranteed. You can disassemble one and put its circuit in the helmet, and put the other one in the chestbox. They should communicate each other via radio channel and give to the costume a cool visual effect (you take off the helmet and nothing is visible: no wires, no microphones, etc...) and avoid larsen feedback. Does anyone already tired this method?

When I assemble a stormtrooper armor by and for myself I always have to cut the upper tights because I have short legs. I usually use a normal cutter on 3mm thickness ABS. I track the line with a marker, after I pass the cutter and then I pull up and down the piece with my fingers. It seems plastic goes to break, but it opens by following the cut line without problems instead.
