  1. I'm going to be shooting for EIB when I start my armor build in a couple of months and I was wondering what EIB acceptable alternatives are there to "close" the drop boxes? And an OT question: Is an ATA bucket EIB passable? Thanks
  2. Do airlines allow E6000 in luggage? Not carry on. Just luggage. 'Cos it isn't available in the Philippines and I was thinking of getting some brought home by my uncle.
  3. I just got an Xacto #1 Knife. Is this good enough to score/cut HIPS or ABS?
  4. Awesome! Looking forward to your always great work. I'm sure pretty sure you'll get an almost perfect if not perfect match. If you could post pics that would be great!
  5. Thanks guys. I guess the best thing to do is to NOT paint my bucket until I get my AM kit so I can try out paints to match before I seal the deal and paint the ATA. I was just hoping someone had accomplished an almost perfect match and lead me to the brand and type of paint that they used.
  6. I just attempted making a canvas belt following this tutorial and it turned out pretty decent considering I've never used a sewing machine before. Just a question though, how do you prevent the canvas from running at the edges? This is a great tutorial and my first step into becoming a TK
  7. Just upping this thread. Does anybody have any advice on the best type of paint to use on an ATA bucket to best match the ABS of the AM kit. Has anyone done this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Take a look over at clonetroopers.net. It's the 501st detachment for clone troopers.
  9. Hey Daniel, I'm excited to see how your new armor will look. Is this going to be a build thread? The TX looks fascinating and your armor is slowly convincing me to go TX. I think it'll be cool to have a Darman/Niner set Wondering though if a TX set can get EIB since they weren't in the films. Are CAP the only TX kit in the community?
  10. Thanks for the info guys. I honestly had no idea of the difference between Enamel and Lacquer paints. I went to ACE earlier and they have ACE brand Appliance Epoxy and was wondering if anyone has tried using it? I saw the "2 different spray paints" post and wondered if ACE brand Appliance Epoxy would end up looking like the Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy. I am worried though that the color might be a mismatch since I'm planning on getting an AM kit after I finish my lid. By the way, is it alright to mix different brand primer and paint? Nippon Pylox has white Aerosol Lacquer paint but they don't have a primer available so I'm going to have to use a primer from a different brand. As for the helmet details, I'm going to visit some hobby shops this weekend and see if I can find better paints than the Tamiya paints for the helmet details. I hope I can find Humbrol or Testors even in small bottles. @pandatrooper Looking forward to those templates. I'm sure a lot of people, like me, are going to benefit from it.
  11. Thanks for all the tips and links guys. I really appreciate it. I'm slowly getting 100% ready for my bucket kit. Our local hardware stores aren't generously stocked so finding things like clamps, glue, paint, etc are a real pain so getting as much information on the different ways to do things like attaching lenses are a real help.
  12. Good day to everyone, I have a couple of questions generally regarding getting a bucket painted. I'm ordering my kit soon and I'd like to have everything else prepped before it arrives. What kind of white paint would I need to use for the helmet? Our local ACE doesn't have either Rustoleum or Krylon paints in their inventory (the only brands they carry are Nippon, Pylox, & Bosny) so I'd like to know what kind of paint I should be looking for since I can't look for specific brands. My next question is if Tamiya paints would be suitable for the helmet details (ears, cheeks, frown, chin, mic tips, tears/ducts, etc)? I'm trying to look for Humbrol or Testors but our local hobby shops hardly carry any in stock. Lastly, about the tube stripes, does any one have the measurements or a template for them? I might either paint them or print out stickers myself but have no idea of the measurements. Is this freely shared information? Thanks guys. All this preparing and waiting are both exciting and depressing. Can't wait to order and start on my kit.
  13. Thanks for all your replies guys. It was really a big ??? for me. I like the welder's shield method & the plumber's putty + screws method. I'll see if I can get a right sized/colored welder's shield. If not, I'll go for the plumber's putty way. Another question though, how did you put screw holes into the lenses? I feel like they'd crack with an electric hand drill.
  14. I'm going to be working on a helmet kit soon and I was wondering how everyone attached the lenses to the bucket. So, how did you attach your lenses to your bucket? Links to build threads/pics would be great. Thanks guys!
  15. Great job sir! I'm amazed at your technique and honestly have no idea how you did half of the stuff you did (return edge? WTH! ). I still have a LOT to learn about building armor. I don't even have half of the tools I'll need like a heat gun or clamps. Will definitely follow your thread when I start my AM kit. This just made me a bazillion times more excited to order my AM kit sometime in the next few months. Hoping to get my armor together near the end of October if that is at all possible. Excited to see more of your great work!
  16. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to try and get Industrial Velcro, E6000, and ABS Glue from the US through Amazon. Our GML has offered to bring it back with him next time he's there. I'm also trying to source the heavy-duty/industrial Velcro locally through a relative's acquaintance 'cos it might come out cheaper. Another question, is PVC cement usable on ABS?
  17. I would love to use E6000 or Plastic Weld but I live in the Philippines and both aren't available here and getting it shipped from abroad is too impractical.
  18. I've been searching for almost 2 weeks and I just can't find an ABS Glue or Cement. The only plastic glues I've found are a -----, a ----- and MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). Are any of these usable on ABS for the Snap Plates at the least? Thanks!
  19. Hey Daniel, Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into that. Wouldn't want to end up with a super shiny bucket. I'm not a very "crafty" person so I have very little experience with painting, etc but I'm up for the challenge as long as I have the right guidance.
  20. Hi guys, I'm in the process of getting myself an FX/AM kit. But I want to use a different helmet than the one included in the FX/AM kit. Our GML recommended I get an ATA helm. Would an ATA helm go well with the FX/AM kit? Has anyone done this combination before? How did it go? Any pictures? Lastly, can anyone PM me the contact info for ATA. I have the one for FX/AM but not ATA. Thanks a lot.
  21. pew pew <--- definitely! Seriously though, I agree with the "Tchung! Tchung!". Or "Zap!"
