  1. Thanks to all for comments and suggestion. As always the armour is still "working progress" (damn seasonal desease). I'm glueing the snap to the ab plate, butt, chest etc. More to come. I'm trying to not cut shins or thighs. The suspender from belt to thigh is not elastic, so thighs stay higher and for me is confortable to walk and make stairs. The thighs pull a little but snaps are good.
  2. This is the right place for a question: why use rivets? Once you drill the hole is not the same use screw and nut? The screw can be removed easly if you need to dismantle the helmet (paint job, lens, wiring etc.) and it can be reassembled in a minute.
  3. To be honest I'm following religiously stukatrooper tutorial and Paul guideline and sometime it's difficult to figure out the end risult . In this case the TM forearm is quite large and without the strapping it'll start to spin. In this way I don't have to fill with foam the forearm. It stay in place as it is. Just a snap and problem solved.
  4. After a long time here I am with my first test fit (finally). I've to do a lot of work but I can see the light at the end of tunnel. Here the arms strapping system. I can wear them like a jacket. Shin and thighs and AB plate: and finally a panoramic of me My 2 cent about snap tab: after made a canonic snap tab I bend it with heat gun to fit the internal of part it is glued to. It is not so difficult. Comments and advice are always appreciated!
  5. E6000 is the best glue for ABS IMHO. It create an elastic but powerful bond. Remember to degrease and sand before glueing. After 5-6 hours you can remove the dried excess of glue with a large wooden toothpick (Zahnstocher I think). I use toothpick because it is sharp and remove well glue from angles and the wood doesn't scratch ABS. You can find easily on ebay. Hope this help
  6. Hi bro, I'm sorry but my job and my children keep me away from my lab. Now I'm working on the strapping system and I'll post more updates asap. To answer roguetrooper: the rare earth magnet are very powerful. The power depends also in the quality and in the dimension of the magnet. IMO the bigger is better (push more). For a comparison a good clamp pinch more than a couple of magnet but the magnet pinch a lot more than every combination of tape and wooden stick.
  7. Can you post a pic of the damage? I am curious about this problem. I tried to do this with two spare ABS pieces, a snap and a lot of E6000 but nothing happens...
  8. Today heat gun and sniper plate. I confess I was really worried. Make a mess is so easy... This is the situation before heating left side of the plate after heating and right side before... and after heating Top view and front view Maybe the bottom side is a little waved but it's a risk to heat again... What do you think?
  9. No, you have to cut it from a larger strip, cut to measure and then, I rounded the corners with sand paper. I love round corners but I don't think it's movie accurate. Reading some troopermaster post the corners are 45Ā° trim but I'm not sure...
  10. Thanks everyone for the kind words, they are really appreciated. Now I'm preparing the ab section, chest, back etc (just trimming and sanding) and after I'll start glueing the snap tab. Stay tuned for more updates
  11. Hi everyone, here are some updates left shin and his overlap sorry for the foot here the inner strip glued to the front and the two halves glued together preparing for the outer strip... glueing and clamping and finally
  12. You're doing a good job. Maybe I'll cut the teeth a little more
  13. Great job mate, and great kit. I'm working on my shins too. I found earth magnet very useful when I glued the outer strip. Just an advice
  14. No problem mate. I used that bucket to practice and it was a good training. I tried some solution that helped me and I'll never tried on a TM bucket. For example screw instead of rivets under ears, to me, are more convenient, you can remove easly and do the same job. Also I found that a screw under the frown bind very well the dome and the faceplate... things like that... Just my 2 cent
  15. And now, to me, one of the best piece in the kit (except the helmet): sexy curves.. I cut the halves and sanded until I reach the best fit then glued the inner strips after 12 h I glued the other half and finally the outside strip a detail You can see the outside strip in right thigh is lightly bended to follow the thigh profile
  16. Is not a fitting question, is just to make the armor sturdy. I followed the Stukatrooper build and I thought it is a good idea to join halves with 2 stripes, inside and outside. Maybe a waste of time and glue but this method give me the chance to eventually correct cutting mistakes and to find a good position for outside strip.
  17. The second helmet is not a TM, is a recast (not TM recast, not made by me, not bought by me, is a gift) and it didn't come with the kit. After all flames about recast stuff, I don't know if I can post pics without offending anyone...
  18. Before I trimmed all borders. I tried with exacto knife and dremel but it takes a lot of time, a lot of blood (exacto don't forgive) and a lot of dust. Lexan scissor was the answer. Trimming legs and arms make me familiar with abs, a new material to me. After trimming I've started with an easy piece, the biceps. I watched every Stukatrooper pic 20 times... (thanks Stuka) First I glued a inner strip of spare ABS (you can see it is different) on a half After I glued togheter the two halves and finally the outer strip with the right ABS. The biceps are done.
  19. Hi everyone, my TM kit arrived about 1 year ago but I'm very slow in assembly due to job, family etc... Now I've almost completed arm and legs so I decide to post some pic hoping you'll appreciate. The pics are not always in chronological order. Enjoy P.S. comment and advice are always welcome
  20. I bought this or you can try with magnet you can find inside hard disk... obviously you have to dismantle it . Pay attention with this type of magnet, they are very strong.
