  1. You don't want to make it Very Thick , armour is Always better in a medium guage for both strengh and flexability.

Not too sure about the thickmesses over the pond because we use the metric system Over here in the UK , a mix of 2.5mm ,2mm and 1.5mm would be ideal. Although I'm Sure but it could be Very Tricky to get 2.5mm formed on a home set up.

    Very True

  2. Yep coiled wire is a snap to make. I use about 14 or 16 guage stranded wire and just wrap it around a screwdriver shank. 2 part 5 minute epoxy from Loctite or Devcon works for EVERYTHING.

A cool trick for exposing silver under black is like this:

Paint it silver let it fully cure for a week.

Anywhere you want exposed silver "paint" that area with mustard.

Spray it black let it dry for a day

when you wash away the mustard, your silver will be exposed ;)

  3. And one more thing, wear a leather glove on the hand thats not holding the knife. Never try to make a clean cut. Always score and snap, its the safest and best method to use. A dremel is very handy for the ears. By shaving just a little bit at a time on the ears with a dremel with test fits between each shave you can make those ear gaps air tight.

  4. A little warning on the Wireless Wally: The Cheap wireless kits that you find on ebay are on a VERY COMMON frequency. I was destroyed a couple years ago at dragonCon when I powered up my wireless system only to find that the hotel's elevator music was being transmitted on the same frequency. Since the hotel's signal was being broadcast at a higher power instead of my voice coming out of my chest it was tacky elevator music.

  5. Because the world looks better thru green tinted lens.

When I'm trooping I forget about all the rotten things going on in the world. The 2 minutes that I met a guy dressed up as Vader when I was about 5 years old is still in my memory 28 years later. Now i can do that for countless other kids. Who knows maybe one of those kids will get into costuming later and spread the love instead of manufacturing meth and spreading the sickness. Not to mention its a medically proven fact that chicks dig armor.

  6. The majority of the costume came from costumebase on ebay. The jacket and shirt are unmodified. I made the belt tools myself. The black belt I found on ebay and removed the center prong. The holster stinks,it came from costumebase along with the droid caller. I'd like to get a proper holster one of these days if cash ever permits. I tweaked the holster to fit better and removed alot of unneeded material and it fits pretty good now. The blaster is a modified Rubies DL-44. It gets the job done and is light as a feather and was completed for less than $20. The pants were done by a seamstress on ebay and are lightyears ahead of the ones I got from costumebase. My stepmom added the belt loops to the pants and also the pintuck seams down the front of each leg. The boots were some inexpensive costume boots with rubber soles. They are lightweight and are much better quality than I expected when I placed the order. I still need to do a few things to the costume before I submit pictures to the Rebel Legion. I'm missing a belt tool (12 gram CO2 cartridge - if anybody has one and wouldn't mind donating it to me I'm sure I could return the favor), put the riding seam on the butt of the pants and shorten the sleeves just a tad so I dont have to roll them up. The boots I got also double as TIE pilot boots and also come in brown for those loser jedis. Oh yeah and I also need to cap the tip of the holster.

  7. Hey guys! I debuted my Solo Costume at the Coca-Cola Science and Space Center yesterday. It was a great troop, we hung out with Daniel Logan and had a blast as usual there. Heres a few pics!

Honestly Boba, Jabba gave me that card himself and told me that if I presented it to you that you would understandably let me go free...

  8. Prolly the best move is to drill a hole in the resin piece about the same size as the shaft of the screw. If the hole you drill happens to be a little bit too large and the screw is loose a dab of glue on the screw threads will make it all better. Or if you have a tap kit, drill and tap a hole that match the screw threads and then just screw the screw into the threaded hole. Resin is easily machined like that. Just drill and tap slowly because it is plastic and high speed tools can do more melting than cutting if you get carried away.

  9. 6 years ago narrows down the playing field. Soft pull on the face but a tight pull on the capnback. How long ago was Meatsock making helmets? The temple traps look well defined and I've been told Meatsocks tended to have a soft pull on the face plate and the capnback was always very tight pulls.

I think Meatsocks may have been from AP buckets. I'm a little fuzzy on MS's because I just caught the tail end of them when I got into the hobby. Never seen one first hand.
