TK2392 Request EIB for ESB [AP] [95]
Debater2nd replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
The right side shim looks like it might need to be longer/more flexible with movement as well. Good progress, though! -
Man, considering what Oakley quoted me for custom sunglasses lenses, that must have cost a fortune! Cool idea, though. Seriously, I wear the Oasis Hydraclear contacts...they are the way to go. Very comfortable for long periods, and they're pretty reasonable on the pricepoint.

My wife ordered me a Cushman DLT-19 for Christmas. I checked with a few folks and got positive feedback, so we'll see. I'll post some pictures and stuff when it gets here. She did say that they're pretty easy people to work with, so that's a good start!

I use the UA HeatGear in the summer/hot months. It's pretty good, but of course still hot. You still have to contort to use the restroom, and, as has been said, anything heavy-duty you need to do means you take off all the gear. -
Relieving Oneself Armored Up

The way that Daertrin described the process sounds right to me...if you try, make sure you have a steady hand! It's not much fun, but do-able! -
You should be ok as long as the glasses went too big...just be careful putting it on! I'd start by putting the back on first then easing the front on. Fogging will definately be an issue, so try to find a good anti-fog spray or make a 50/50 baby shampoo water solution.

TK-2618 requesting EIB ESB status.[92][FX]

Thanks for all the help from everyone. It certainly did seem like a lot of issue to work through! But after looking at the difference from when I first joined the 501st and now, the EIB route seems to be the right way to go. The accuracy is better, and the suit overall just looks more like it should. One other question. I still need to get a photo on my member page and one done for the EIB page. Who do I need to contact about getting the updates done? -

Ok, here we go...additional full-suit photos as requested. The blaster detail pictures are posted a little higher on this thread, so I assume I don't need to repost them here. I also just realized I forgot the thermal detonator, but you can also see that in previous pictures. -

Update! Ok, took some time and made some fixes. Here's the list: 1. Changed out the abdomen buttons for correctly sized buttons. 2. Got a new ESB correct blaster. 3. Looped the holster over the belt. 4. Re-took photos showing the butt cut under the belt. 5. Replaced the canvas side shims with plastic shims. Since the last post, I've also done some overall maintenance, such as cleaning up the back of the thigh pieces. So, I present these pictures for consideration, and I am again requesting EIB status! -
The MacBook Pro is an awesome computer. While I know some people have had problems with Mac, I will say that as long as you maintain the AppleCare warranty, you have nothing to worry about. I switched from a Dell to MacBook Pro about 7 months ago, and we were so happy with it that we got my wife one as well. To answer some of your other questions: - Battery Life: Mine is pretty good...4-5 hours average, although that does heavily depend on what you're doing and what's running. Your best bet is to pick up a second battery if you want to make sure you don't get stranded without power. - Gaming: Yes, you can game...I have done so. The Mac versions work exceptionally well. The PC games do pretty well, although they are clearly harder for the computer to run...watch out for overheating. The simple way to avoid the heat issue is to make sure that if you play, keep the computer on a flat, hard surface, or at least something with plenty of ventilation. - Partitioning: You can run your Mac as a PC, although apart from gaming I'm not sure why you would. It's a simple process, using a program called Bootcamp (or Parallels Desktop, which allows simultaneous use), but you will need a valid copy of windows. I'd recommend XP if you can find it...do NOT use Vista...there are known compatibility issues, and you'll lose a ton of memory. - School/Work use: I use mine for both work and school, and I haven't had any problems. Most places offer Mac support, or at least programs that are compatible with Mac. - Security: The security risks are minimal, although the new Facebook trojan is causing enough problems that there is at least one preventative program for that issue. Overall, you should be pretty safe. However, if you do run it as a PC, you will need virus software. Overall, it's a solid computer that should serve you well. The apps included like iWeb, iPhoto, Garageband, and the rest of the iLife suite are good. I'd recommend getting the Microsoft office suite just for another option, as I've sometimes needed to use a particular feature, but it's certainly not necessary. Hope this helps!

Yeah, I think I'll go with the E-11 first, and add on the DL-19 later...seems like the best route to go. The thighs are on the list of things to eventually replace, but I think I can get them cleaned up enough for now. The feedback has been awesome...folks have made catches on issues I never would have seen. Thanks all! -

Yeah, I'm still working on cleaning up the thigh...whatever is on there is pretty stubborn. The kit I bought was pre-used, so the cut was the previous owners. It's on my list of things to replace, but for now it works and I'm focusing on meeting the EIB reqs. I'm pretty sure I've asked this in this thread before, but with the EIB reqs, is it either an e-11 or dl-19, or would I need both to qualify? Thanks! -

Thanks for the thoughts. I have been looking at the holster...is it simply looped, or can I rivet it on after looping? I am also looking into the ab button issue, and hope to have that resolved shortly. The blaster is being worked out as well, and I'll be tweaking the belt placement. I did want some further clarification on the decals, however. I was under the impression after reading around the board that AHN and ESB were pretty similar, the only major difference being the frown. Here's the thread I was reading...any thoughts? http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?show...l=helmet+decals Thanks! -

Hi, a couple more questions, probably for the admins, I guess. 1. I have been planning to obtain a DL-19. Do I need both the E-11 and the DL-19, or is it one or the other? Also, if I carry a bfg, do I need the holster? 2. I am working towards making the suggested modifications, such as correct holster looping (assuming I need that), plastic ab shims, and correct E-11 (if needed). When I finish all this, do I need to make a new thread or simply update this one? Thanks! -

One more question: Is it ok to rivet the holster to the belt after looping it over? The security would be nice. Thanks! -

Yeah, that might work..I'm not a big guy, so it's not like I need a ton of plastic. The real challenge will be getting it to line up with the existing pieces, and then figuring out how to secure it. -

That's funny...my wife and I were in Target the other day, and we were actually joking about trying that. We just weren't sure how to get the bend out. -

Wow...just looked at that thread you sent, Super. That is probably beyond my skill level. I think I may just put the doopy counter back on, sell it, and try to find a good ESB blaster somewhere, ideally one that doesn't cost a ton. Most of the ones I've seen for sale are AHN, so this ought to be a fun hunt. -

Thanks for the steer. One more question...I'd like to replace the canvas shims with plastic, but I've been having trouble finding a good source of plastic. I read on here somewhere that someone used "for sale" signs, but all the ones I've seen are way too thin. Aside from using belt pieces (which I don't have), what is recommended for closing the sides? -

Ah...that's what that is! I had no idea that's what it was supposed to be. Way to go, Hasbro... Any good way to get that off without destroying the blaster? It looks pretty solid. -

I think I may need some further clarification... After searching for what a hengstler counter is, it seems to be the square piece that sits on the side of the blaster. I had initially put that on, but then took it off again prior to these pictures. What else is it that needs to come off? Here's a picture of what I had prior to this EIB post to help. Thanks!
