TKTrev Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I'm about to begin building my AP armor, and it's the first kit I've owned. From what I can gather, the helmet doesn't require painting at all... is that right? I've noticed a few people have painted theirs and that's why I ask. Also, I'm probably going for ANH rather than ESB, but I think I'll start off with decals on the helmet instead of painting the tubestripes etc in case I change my mind. Are the decals that come with the helmet acceptable for this? Thanks for any pointers! Quote
FIVE[501st] Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) Hey man... you're right in that the AP doesn't need to be painted. It's shiny ABS so all you might want to do is polish it now and then, but you can start putting that bad boy together right away. (I think) I don't know what the decals that come with the AP look like, but I would recommend looking at getting a set of decals from TK-4510. His are THE best! ---------- Edited February 23, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote

AP kit's don't need painting. just the frown, and the stickers and you're good to go. tk 4510 has a great build tutorial for making the AP ESB version, but really all you need to make it ANH is paint the frown 1138 grey Edited February 23, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Shooter Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I believe the decals the come with the AP are from TK 4510, are they not? Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Yes, I believe they are. Some people choose to upgrade them to replica decals that look hand painted. Some people choose to hand paint the details. The decals that come with the kit are more than enough to meet 501st CRL guidelines. Quote
