Les Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I am about as technologically advanced as an Ewok. I have read online about people downloading custom voices for their GPS units and even custom vehicle Icons (Such as Darth Vaders TIE fighter and other Star Wars ships) Question 1 Which GPS units support this? I have an old Garmin but am looking to get a new SOMETHING soon 2 Do these come from the manufacturers or are they non official software downloads? Where does one download them? 3 Anyone have one with Darth or Yoda installed? Thanks Les TK wannabe Westminster CO Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 About any new GPS now can do this, TomTom, Garmin, Navman. Here is the link for the Yoda and Darth Vader GPS voices: http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navig...554&ID=Yoda Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Sorry, the first link was bad: When you go to the link look for "Here is a complete list of celebrity voices and international TomTom voices." then you will find the list with: Yoda, Darth Vader, R2D2, C3po, Clint Eastwood, Ozzy Osborne, and more. http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navig...links/index.php Quote
Les Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 THANKS! This reminds of the most recent Doonsbury arc where they were getting famous people to record GPS stuff. Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Happy to help! I would worry about Yoda giving directions, to turn left you are not.....do or do not take a right at the next light. Getting directions from R2 would hard, since he only beeps and whistles, how would anyone understand him.... I don't speak droid??? Quote
TK6294 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Anyone have any links for a garmin other than what is on the garmin site? Has anyone tried downloading a pigtone voice for garmin? Quote
gh05ty Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 We have a TOMTOM with both vader and yoda installed and i have to say the yoda is one of the easiest to follow i dont know why maybe its because you get "turn left in 200 yards you will" instead of "turn left in 200 yards"... which by that time you are past it. there are loads of voice packs for them and with the tomtom they can mostly be downloaded from the official website. Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Clint Eastwood would be pretty funny. "I know what you're thinking. "Do I make a left at the intersection or a right?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement of trying to find the freeway I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is south central LA, the most notorious gang neighborhood in the world, and people can blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?" Quote
