Hello guys, I was wondering about the steps to painting your ATA helmet. I want to use TK-4510 technique, but add a step in the middle of it. Here is his post on how he paints his helmet, (See Post # 47) -----

I want to prime it with the Rustoleum sandible primer (same as his) and sand it, then use a Rustoleum grey & black spray paint to color the ears, mouth, and grey and black indentions around the helmet, wait 2 days for that 2 dry. Then as the last step use the Rustoleum Clear Gloss Enamel to finish the helmet.

Would doing that meddle step of spray painting the other details of the helmet ruin the last step of the high Gloss Enamel?

I just think it would work better to have all details painted before the high gloss enamel go's on.

Please let me know if I can do this or If I should do it another way. I really want to avoid using any kind of stickers except for the blue lines on each side of the cheek.

Thanks :)

If you feel you can do it, then I say go for it. I know for me and my limited paint skills, it wouldn't work and would probably make the whole thing overly complicated.

You can use acrylic or enamel on top of enamel, but not enamel on top of acrylic. Just paint the armor white then detail it out with whatever paint you want as long as you brush it and don't spray it.
