I'm slowly but surely moving ahead with my AP kit

I have to ask though, has anyone else had a problem installing the sniper plate.

I watched an armor construction video and read a good AP kit assembly thread and have come to the conclusion that there was beer involved in the making of my kit.

Lining up the pieces I can see that there is no way that they match up. If I rivet the one side in the other is almost a good inche away from its mate.

I can clamp it together but the rivets will not then hold.

Anyone else run into this problem?

I've had a number of issues with edges not mating up with this kit but this is by far the worst

Not dissing the armor, it is gorgeous stuff but the shins and thighs were enough to make me want to call a shrink

In comparion the helmet took me like an hour to build

Agreed!

I ended up heating the piece with a blow dryer to get it to fit. I got a tiny bit of damage but there was no other way to get it to hold

Even when I used velcro and rivets it would just pull them out again. The two pieces just are not shaped the same :/

Are you using a washer on the back side of the rivet? I could see it pulling out without one, but with a washer, that would be one really tough pull!!!

It's not so much the Knee plate being wrong, it's the leg in general. I plan to replace my AP shins with TM eventually.

I would agree with this, I have seen many rivets pull through different plastics, like ABS, etc.. with no backing washer. A fellow trooper in my garrison had a rivet pull through on his FX knee plate and that is a pretty good fit but it had no back washer. I understand you are saying they are way off but a little heat and a deep enough rivet with a back washer should make a difference.
