SpeirsMD Posted July 6 Report Posted July 6 Hey guys, I'm planning on joining my local garrison as the current GML is a buddy of mine and convinced me to apply so I thought I'd go for the Imperial Armored Commando. I'm a member of the Galactic Armory patreon and decided to go with their files, but as I was currently post-processing the helmet I decided to buy Big Fred's STL files and continue from there since I'm planning on illuminating my armour with LEDs and Big Fred's files are way easier to do so with. As I was checking the CRLs I noticed that the nose part of Galactic Armory's helmet doesn't have the stripe things so I decided to model my own but I don't know I might reprint the helmet using Fred's files? But I spoke with my GML buddy and he says GA's helmet does follow the CRLs. https://imgur.com/a/zM5bh9Z I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys, thank you so much in advance! 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted July 6 Report Posted July 6 Welcome to FISD Speirs! Definitely spend time researching the info we have in this section. There are only a couple of members who have built this costume so far, and I'm sure they will chime in with their insights of building this very cool costume. François build thread is well detailed but do look at all the build threads to ss how others have made things work. Good luck with your build and enjoy the journey. As a side note, be aware that some of the images in the gallery of a production suit are slightly different from what made it to screen in the end. The CRL is built off of the final as seen in the show product, so that's where you need to focus. Quote

Firstly folks in the UK can not see Imgur images so a few of us have used different free image hosts, I'm currently using Flickr. To add images to your post you need the "direct link" or full file extension, ie: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp In this reference there are two ridged areas, also lines under the eyes, not shown in the CRL And here Quote

Yeah I ran the Galactic Armory bucket past my GML buddy and he says it passes the CRLs with some slight modifications but Big Fred's honestly does look more screen accurate which makes me want to reprint the whole thing with his files. Just wanted a little input from the hive mind here. Thanks for the advice! 1 Quote

Extra rigged piece on the bottom of the nose, there is also a raised curve area between not flat. You may also notice the top of the nose it at a point not straight. Lastly the lines on the upper areas under the eyes. Quote

I think I'll move forward with this just for application purposes but then print an extra bucket using Fred's files so this one has a friend 😃 1 Quote
