Greetings! I'm starting to work on the calf/shins for my ANH Stunt TK and I'm running into some issues perhaps someone can assist with. At the front, there's a nice flat section where the pieces come together and a cover strip can easily be attached. However, the rear pieces are more rounded off and they don't exactly come together in a defined way. The armour is from a reputable manufacturer, so that's not the issue. I've seen some approved TK sets with a well defined 'flat' piece at the back where the calves easily come together, and many TK units where they're more rounded. Because it's not a very clean edge, I feel like I may have to go with the elastic straps and hooks, even though I'd prefer velcro.

Anyone else have this issue and come up with an acceptable way to close up the back, and perhaps wish they did things differently?

Thanks for the assistance, these forums are great.

Some photos may help us identify your issue.

Some makes need a hot water bath or heat gun (with lots of practice)

Many of us find we have to apply some heat to get the shins to close properly, either heat gun (practice needed) or hot water bath. Using velcro they will be open slightly but generally not seen from the outside as they are overlapped outside over inside.

A couple of random threads may be of help

Cricket has a very nice magnet closure system if you want something else

Thank you.

My pleasure.

Many of use a free online image host as the forum has size restrictions, Imgur was working well but those in the UK can no longer access, FLICKR is another free one, if you get stuck please reach out.

The front seams are intentionally designed to be flat and clean so they can be permanently joined with a cover strip. In contrast, the rear sections are often more rounded and less defined, which makes them harder to align and close neatly. This explains why you’ve observed differences between other approved builds—some appear flatter at the back, while others retain that curved shape.
