Hi all,

I bought a full stormtrooper armour set several years back. Long story short, it got held up in customs because of the blaster, and when it finally arrived I kind of stashed it away in storage and forgot about it.

Several years later I found a reason to dig it up and I tried it on for the first time. Its huge. I look smaller than Luke in a stolen trooper suit.

Jokes aside, I'm seeking advice on wheather its feasible to trim and resize this to shape in less than a week.

For context i think this was made for someone 180-185cm, im 176cm.

I put this on as is, with no alterations other than masking tape holding it together.

A few other notes; I can't bend my legs (kneeling or raising my knees) so the thighs will have to be shortened and slimmed down.

The torso and abdomen is huge, I actually dont know how to fix this.

Theres a lot of foam in the helmet so ill need to take some out or replace it so its not as tall.

The arms are the closest thing to ok, needs some trimming.

Advice is much welcome!

Edit: I am based in Australia if that helps with telling me to get certain supplies.

Your images are of a smaller resolution so very hard to make out details, do you know what make the armor is? A couple of pieces look like AM (DDD, Daves Darkside Depot) if it is that armor is made for taller wider people thread here

Apologies for the resolution - previous advice indicate its an AM set.

Do you want to see any specific pieces in detail?

I think my worry is more about 'where' I should trim. I think I'm more nervous about making a mistake I can't reverse so I've got trim paralysis if that makes sense.

I'll start reading into these builds and see if I can adapt.

Thank you for the links!

Edit: Cricket's Where to Trim guide is really helpful!
Given the short time constraint (I still have a day job), I don't think I can make it look accurate, I'll just have to make it as wearable as possible.

Edit2: When I say accurate, probably no return edge, proper connections... it will probably be a mess of velcro, hot glue and duct tape for the night

With this being AM it is for the taller wider trooper, personally I think it would be A LOT of work for the first time builder to get it to suit you, just been throughs this with a trooper of @ the same size locally, he ended up selling and getting a more proportional size armor (which is basically most armor makers except AM).

How to on return edges

This is my first post in years but I'd like to pitch in, I'm 6'1" and about 245lbs. The suit would fit me. I'm pretty sure you're smaller than that from the photos.

My advice as someone building an AM and have previously built an AP, is sell the AM and buy an AP. Or a suit from Walt's Trooper Factory. I know it'll be a hassle but it'll be 10x easier on you than trying to make this fit.

Thanks for taking the time to chime in. Yes, I'm 5'7" and 160lbs so a big difference.

I've looked at the guides and also the advice given in the last few days and decided against building and go as something else.

I'll probably go ahead and sell this after Halloween (possibly for May the 4th next year).

Thanks for all the info and assistance!

Yeah at your size the Authentic Props would fit like a dream buddy. Also AP ships from Canada as Mark is in Quebec so that may also save you some of the import taxes placed on shipments from  US based builders. Not for sure but it may make a price difference going all that way south to you buddy. Good luck, keep posting.

Hi Jay, what part of Australia are you in? I'm Melbourne based, but there's a few of us in each state who would be happy to help or point you in the right direction for supplies, etc.

I'm Sydney based. I'll probably try to sell this set before I consider what set to get next.

Oh terrific. I'm sitting in Sydney as we speak, but Melbourne based. SCG is a great group. I trooped with them a few months ago - super helpful, so be sure to jump on their forums too and they'll be able to help.

Hey there, I'm in Sydney and a (relatively recent) member of SCG. Our garrison is extremely happy to help get people over the line. We have armour parties and there have even been instances of people just going over to people's places and sorting out kits.

Definitely join up on our forums and we'll hook you up! If you have any trouble just message me here and I'll connect you to the right peeps.
