BFA
Just before xmas I managed to aquire an old bumpy cap HDPE helmet made by TE from a chap on the UKG boards. It was painted up in ESB scheme but sometime in it's past it had been messed around with . At some point it had been taken apart and reassembled ( badly ) with a really low brow , also I think that the ears had been changed. So I've decided to chart my progress refurbishing this classic lid and get it back to it's former glory. Here is how the helmet looked at the start , these were pics taken by it's former owner. The brow's a little too low and the ears just look all wrong. First off I got rid of those ears , there's almost no deffinition to them at all. I couldn't resist picking at the paintwork and flaking all the loose paint away , lol . Anyway I have disassembled the helmet and put it back together with a raised brow and put on a new set of ears. I have also taken off all the stickers which took off a lot of paintwork too. Here is how it's looking now. Next step is sanding and flaking away as much of the old paint as possible. More to follow soon ! Edited February 11, 2021 by gmrhodes13 photos updated gmrhodes13 2021
