loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 2, 2025 Author Report Posted August 2, 2025 its getting there , few reprints needed, last bits being printed for the helmet and clear red insets for the lit gauntlet elements 1 Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 4, 2025 Author Report Posted August 4, 2025 (edited) So , more progress made on the hard parts that I can get done now. Few things needed a reprint , and the last of the smaller resin greeblies and the blaster are being printed. The vambrace lit windows are being done in clear red resin with a bit of cloudiness to match the crl model and screen used suits. I’ve got a plan for how I’ll do all the lit elements but I’ll need to test if it works. I don’t really see it needing complex electronics since it’s just a static red light so I’ll be trying out battery powered EL panels , basically just an a square that lights up powered by a battery . You can buy them set up , just pop a battery in and that’s it. So if that works I’ll use that for all the lit squares on the armour. So with the holster I sorta forgot to send the pics to the guy working with me to get it done so we’re only just starting up, but the image that I sent somewhere earlier is a super clear image of the screen used captain costume with as clear a view as there really is of the holster and what it is made of. I’ll resend it in this message for clarity So from what I can gather from this pic. The holster is two different types of leather, a real leather for the y strap which is noticeably thicker and less shiny, you can see on the sides where it’s got real leather texture as opposed to a synthetic clean cut. The holster itself is noticeably shinier and definitely not as thick as the y strap , the holster is shaped to the general shape of the part of the blaster it covers and has a top and bottom trim likely done via stitching, the pistol is held in place via a synthetic leather strap that also has stitching going down the outer edges. The strap connects to the outside of the holster via a snap button that is placed roughly where the top cutout ends at the top edge. Sitting in the right angle corner created. The strap comes through a slit in the y strap that is placed in the midpoint between the top of the holster and the flat intersection between the two connecting straps. And is itself riveted in with a rivet slightly smaller than the snap button. The rivet is located roughly in line with the snap button. The y strap has stitched borders using white thread. And does not end any lower than halfway down the holster. Holster is held on via unseen method, likely one or more rivets. something i wanted to ask about since this comes off the back of the epic crl made by francais and could provide some additions to the crl. during the episodes we see these guys in , the ones that use riot shields and batons do not have jetpacks on. with the creation of accurate batons and shields is this something we could add to the crl and include in this, something about if your using either you forgo the jetpack. as part of the crl we allready need at least the visuals of the jetpack mounting system, i know i will be getting the real metal version so itll be as close as can be. id also like to posit a potential change to the blaster holster crl text if this does get approved, as my research on this and the image above would suggest the y strap of the holster is not synthetic leather for the grunt version, but real leather with a white stitching just inside the border. just something to think about as a potential since the y strap is identical in shape and it makes more sense to me that it is the same as the grunts but with a different holster, the holster itself is defintely not the same material Edited August 4, 2025 by loyalImperialCitizen Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 10, 2025 Author Report Posted August 10, 2025 Last few things are printing and everything’s getting its final coats of filler primer and bondo, sanding til it’s gleaming. The hand plate and remaining parts of the blaster are getting printed in resin and will get their smoothing done, should have the bits on me in a week ready for painting. I’m also hoping to get the el panels ordered so I can test how they look with the clear red insets on the vambraces. Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted August 10, 2025 Report Posted August 10, 2025 Great news, Dylan, can't wait to see our first IAC Captain added to the CRL and approved. Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 10, 2025 Author Report Posted August 10, 2025 (edited) Yeah I’m very excited, but simultaneously not happy with the more important side of things, the weight loss, nothing I can do about that unfortunately but I won’t be going ahead with ordering the flightsuit or doing the chest or jetpack until Im happy with where I am and can actually fit in francais ab section. But for now everything that doesn’t need that should be finished before October ends. And the holster too. Regarding that we’ll obviously need to confirm the holster is fine and screen accurate since that’s the only physical difference between the existing crl , and the captain version. I think that the things I outline in the post 2 posts above may possibly serve better as lvl 2 and 3 requirements rather than base, to make it a bit easier for people and so we don’t have to change the grunt crl base holster requirements. But it defitnely shines a light on previously vague holster info. And suggests that there’s more going on than previously thought. I’m glad I found that image because without it there’s really not enough to go off if we want a really screen accurate holster. Edited August 10, 2025 by loyalImperialCitizen Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 12, 2025 Author Report Posted August 12, 2025 (edited) this is not necessarily an important update or really an update at all, just a continuation of the overall research part of this project in prep for helping with the crl body. as it may provide some well needed customisation options on my behalf and bad back. from what i can see, only the white on the kit is gloss , everything else is a satin. the grey red and black do not shine anywhere near as much as the white and has a very dull overall shine to it. id hazard a guess the white is painted first, gloss clear coated. the other colours painted over. then the white masked off, and satin clear coat sprayed over them. what this means though is that where the shins knees and vambraces before were glossy due to being white. they will now be a satin finish. But we’ll have to wait on having the glossy white parts painted and red only bits to compare to screen used stuff both the grunt and the 2 captains are seen jetpackless. the grunts have 3 variants when wearing no jetpack, riot baton troopers, riot baton and shield troopers, and troopers with only the blasters they usually use. some of the basic grunts are seen with the shield mounted to their backplate, how is up to the imagination since the jetpack mounting system doesnt seem to be used on the shield in any way. but overall i think this would be an appropriate optional way to wear the kit as the basic approval requires the jetpack to be mounted via the screen used mounting system. which is painted metallic and visible on the back. theres nothing that needs hiding in that regard. and will provide some fairly awesome opportunities for long troops whereby you forgo the jetpack in the latter half of a troop and switch out with a riot baton and or shield, and holster the pistol. and give my back some much needed rest (though ill certainly be making sure the jetpack is hollow as can be). and one of the grunts with shields the captains are only seen using their pistol variant when jetpackless, but i dont think there will be anyone against the crl including optional uses of the long rifle and riot gear also updates on all the bits, ill have them on hand by friday and its all getting its final smoothing today Edited August 12, 2025 by loyalImperialCitizen Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 16, 2025 Author Report Posted August 16, 2025 everything barring the helmet and shins have arrived, though we missed one part of the right vambrace which will be done with the batch of reprints ill list below. so from the testing ive done i can see that the smaller belt boxes need to be redone, they need to be about 1.05 the size to actually slip on the belt, thats fine. the hand plates similarly need a reduction by 15 percent, they are too big proportionally and may impact manoeuvrability. the blaster files gave the grip in a solid one piece format, i dont know what he did but i got two pieces both warped , so unusable, thatll be reprinted too in one piece. we also missed the 4 greeblies on the pistol which will be printed in this reprint batch. loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 19, 2025 Author Report Posted August 19, 2025 (edited) perfectly sized. no bobblehead syndrome but ive got enough space to get in with glasses and maybe room for fans and to wear a mic. the vison is amazing too, sorry for the abysmally low quality pic XD Edited August 19, 2025 by loyalImperialCitizen Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted August 20, 2025 Author Report Posted August 20, 2025 so, el panels arrived and i did a quick test to make sure it was actually feasible and wouldn't you know it, an exact match to how they look on screen with an uninterrupted single glow. theyre overblown in images but they have that slightly darker border thats given by the lip they stick onto. overall im happy with that and thats one step closer to centurion Quote
loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted September 22, 2025 Author Report Posted September 22, 2025 holster is getting ready for paint and gloss for the holster. the retainer strap should have sewing too but theyre ding the one seen and a sewn border one that we can decide on. 1 Quote

loyalImperialCitizen[501st] Posted October 8, 2025 Author Report Posted October 8, 2025 (edited) ago So, I’ve got the holster in. I’m not totally sold on the overall shape of the y strap and the stitching but since the grunt crls holster is allready inaccurate for those aspects trying to match the details on that wouldn’t be advisable It’s possible the stitching needs to have less length on each stitch but since it needs to be leather construction and rather thick on the y drop strap that’s more work on the makers end. But as long as the fisd team is happy that’s all that matters. Imgur is down here for me so I’m gonna need to find a new hosting service to post images on there.
