I want to get my own armor but here's the problem! I myself am a college student have very little money and my "crafting supplies" don't exist!!! I was wondering if there is any armor makers local to the US that don't charge an arm and a leg to get a kit???? Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Welcome, Ian!   Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive hobby.  I can appreciate the fact that you would like to get trooping, but to get an armor kit that will be accepted by the 501st / FISD will run you a minimum of around $450.00 to $550.00.  They come un-assembled, of course, so you would need to purchase building supplies.  Depending on what area you are in, there may be someone in a local Garrison or Squad holding an "armor party", where you can perhaps borrow some of the more expensive tools.  

Plus, there is the cost of soft-goods, i.e. under suit, boots, canvas belt, leather holster, neck seal, etc.

Just take your time, save up your money, and purchase things as you can.  Before you know it you will have everything ready to start your build, and be out there trooping!

@justjoseph63 I have enough money to buy the Anovos white armor and the soft goods but I was planning to spread out my purchases....or should I just save an buy it all at one time? Thanks for the input, I wasn't sure anyone was going to help!!

I would avoid Anovos' soft goods, Ian.  You can get them MUCH cheaper elsewhere.  For instance, you can purchase black compression pants and shirts on Amazon for as little as 10 bucks each.  Rubber gloves?  $4.00 at WalMart.  The Anovos neck seal is not that great, and I recommend one of Darman's : http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21385-darmans-neck-seals/.  Also the canvas belt that is included is total rubbish.  There are several makers here, but I have one of Gary's (Flashpoint0214) and love it.

Hi, Welcome to the forum,...if your goal to joint the 501st? this is the right place.... if you don't mind I asked what is your Height and Weight?<br><br>

browsed the forum threads, there's a lots of Anovos armor build threads and others,...search, reading, research,...repeat. <br>

I'm still reading, bookmarked it, reading, buy rubber straps,..reading (again)... No Armor(yet) LOL!.. just gather lil'bit at a time, remember this is not a race, take your time, asked questions.<br><br>

me too, I've been a Helper/minder 3 times and it was A Blast, gonna doit again for sure...

and its really help you to see the armor up close in person rather than just from the pictures. sometimes help them put it on the armor, see how the strapping, so you if you buy an armor you've already know what type of strapping that gonna fits your style, see how much the 'return edges' and see how they properly mod their armor... and as a helper/minder be sure to remind them to drink water, inspect the armor at a distances while their trooping.

and see how the TKs put the 'bucket' and 'Game On' how they postures/pose with childrens and how they pose with an adult... It's really is put A Big smile on everyones.

and with your height, i think you're gonna be fine becoming A great TK.

def keep an eye out on the for sale forum. every once in a while a full set of armor already built that may just take a little bit of reworking to fit properly comes up if you want to go that route..may get you trooping a lot quicker and also save you some money tool purchase wise!
