Penguitrooper Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Akrighty, so I'm building an ANH Stunt TK and ice been working on the helmet. I and a friend of mine were screwing in the ear screws and I find that he had grabbed the wrong screw size. My ears look like they have piercings (studs) in them. The length is fine but, the width is rather large. I've acquired the right screw size after reading up on it. Thankfully I've only drilled into the bottom of the helmet. I could get a counter sunk screw in the size drilled but with me being particular about symmetry I don't think it'll look good. Any idea on what I should do? Can I have different screw sizes on the ears? I didn't see anything in the CRL for exact specifications. Btw in going for the basic 501st approval. Quote

DarkTrooper[TK] Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Whoa, those are "gauges"! Quote
Zaphod[TK] Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 NO. That won't do. That screw is way too big. The top and bottom screw will be enough to hold the ear in place. Use the correct screws. If this hole is too big now for the correct counter sunk screw head, consider making up a little ABS paste to fill the hole and start over. Just don't expect this repair to be as solid as it was before. In other words, put the correct screw in there for appearances only. Quote
Penguitrooper Posted December 15, 2015 Author Report Posted December 15, 2015 Thank you DarkTrooper! I knew I'd find some humor in my mistake. I'll get to patching it up soon. Should I also do the same for a few new teeth? I may have done some unnecessary dental work. Quote
Penguitrooper Posted December 15, 2015 Author Report Posted December 15, 2015 And thank you Zaphod for the tip! I'll be sure to do that. Quote
Penguitrooper Posted January 4, 2016 Author Report Posted January 4, 2016 I think I've found a solution! Hear me out, I'm gonna take a scrap of my ABS and cut it small enough to fill the hole. And either glue it or let the screw push it outwards towards the ear and other parts of the where the hole is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted January 4, 2016 Report Posted January 4, 2016 ABS paste with a glued small piece of ABS in the back glued with CA glue Quote
