Murphoid Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 Hey gang. Recently for a film project we threw a quick coat of paint on my roommate's AP bucket to make it look recognizable on screen. Its a very sloppy job, and its latex. I was just wondering if I could save time by taking paint stripper to it and removing the paint down to the ABS. I don't have a problem sanding, but . . . that's a lot of sanding. Quote
Runnriottt Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 Yes. It will trash the ABS. Before you did anything, I would try it on a scrap peice. I am sure though you wont like the results... Depending on the stripper, It could melt the plastic. On the birghter side, Lucas is said to have used house paint. Go for the ugly accurate look... Quote
SuperTrooper Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 A naphtha based cleaner won't hurt the ABS and will take the paint off in a flash. Just make sure it is acetone free. Quote
