Ok. I understand 25mm cover strips for the shin and 20mm for the thigh. Is that 1.for the back too? And 2. Are they required to be that size for basic membership? I understand that it will have to be for centurian I was just curious if it was for basic as well.

both are only 20 mm strips on the front of the thighs and shins. 20-25 mm on the back although it does not matter as much as the front.

I believe you can have a wider raised edge (flat part of the seam) but keep your cover strip to the 25mm or 1" in the back.

If you have big thighs and calves, you may need to go bigger on the front than the standard 20mm. The key is to make it uniform in appearance. You will want the same front cover strips on both thighs and shins. Most people will go bigger on the back and leaving the front the standard 20mm though. It's possible you will need to shim. There are several great tutorials here to learn how to that if needed.

The thighs are 20mm front and back. The shins are 20mm front and 25mm back. IMHO, I like the front to be 20mm and a clean shim on the back to enable to use of standard sizing in the rear too. Is it necessary for approval even in the standard levels, not necessarily, however it looks better. This is just my personal opinion though.
