1-1/2" x 1-3/8" Plastic Pipe at Lowe's

I found this tonight while shopping at Lowe's. The package reads:

& Duracraft Plastics

700WW

S TRAP FOR KITCHEN OR LAVATORY

 

The model number on the package is 25031. The tube measures 1-1/2" x 1-3/8" x 18". Material is white polypropylene. Cost was $6.58.

 

A Sterling bolt slides into the tube with no problem.

It's definitely the right size, but is there a downside to using this?

May need to scuff it up with fine sandpaper or a scotchbrite pad for glue and paint to stick.

OK, What you see in the picture at the top of this thread is not an optical illusion. After applying a template and drilling, I noticed something wasn't quite right with the tube. I rolled it across the table and it wobbled. Sure enough, there was a slight curve to the tube. No way I'm using this one. I may try another set from a different manufacturer, but I'm sure straightness in not a primary consideration for what this kind of pipe is used for. Maybe I'll get lucky. We'll see. If not, I'll probably bite the bullet and go with 1-1/4" EMT conduit. Same dimensions, but steel. I don't favor that, so keep your fingers crossed.
