Sabyre
Ukswrath has a great set up on his helmet electronics that leaves only one cable running from your bucket to a single battery source. I am now tech head, and electronics confuse the heck out of me, however I can usually follow directions fairly well, so I decided to give this a try. Here is my weak attempt at copying his work. I started with the gathering almost everything on his list. Here I cut the y cable for the leds One male connector attached. Next, I cut the 3.5 adapter off of this extension cable. Attached one male adapter. Plugged it in to check and it works. All soldered and shrink wrapped. Note: I had to go back and add one more adapter to this for a total of two male ends not plugged in to the leds. Now to make the usb plug in. I started by cutting this usb cable. Then attached one male adapter to it. This part is now done. Next, I gathered up the parts to make the mini din connection. I got the female adapters soldered and shrink wrapped to the mini din after a few swear words and a couple cool off breaks. soldering wires is easy, these small posts give me fits. Next, I made the bracket to glue the mini din to the battery. Now for the helmet end. Here is everything in place before I made a mess. I started by pulling the Echo fan bracket out. I did the easiest parts first. These are the leads to the HiTechtoys speaker mics. Here I have attached the male adapters to the mic wires and the female adapters to the 3.5mm plug in. Next, I attached a male adapter to the fans. After attaching a male adapter to the Rom/Fx and the EAS I had all of the helmet parts ready. I then attached all of the female adapters to the mini din that goes in the helmet. Here is everything wired and hooked up to the battery. I may have to do a little fine tuning to get it all to work. The memory stick you see plugged in does not draw enough to keep the usb side on without the fans running constantly. I will have to try and find one that does. The EAS does not have the resistor or diode built in to keep from shutting down the 9v side. I have ordered the parts I need to correct this, so now I must wait for them to come in. In the mean time, I made the bracket to hold the mini din in the bucket and painted it. It is noe glued in placed. Any comments are welcomed as always. Any questions, you'd be better off asking Ukswrath cause I really have no idea what the heck I am doing on this one. Thanks for reading. Haribon72[TK]
I have Tony's mic system as well. I haven't found free time to work on it yet. But I need to ask.. what's the black box on the bottom right of your work bench?
Sabyre
Wow this looks familiar lol. Doing great JC Thank you sir, I got home this after noon and the diodes and more shrink came in some time this week. I have a run to do tomorrow and some maintenance work to do on my rig this weekend, so hopefully I can find some time to work on this as well. Seeing as I am plagiarizing your work, I hope it looks REAL familiar, that means I might be on the right track.
Sabyre
I have Tony's mic system as well. I haven't found free time to work on it yet. But I need to ask.. what's the black box on the bottom right of your work bench? I don't have his mic system, I had already purchased some from Hitechtoys before he made his. Other wise I would have just bought his. I am using his helmet electronics thread to wire everything together so I will not have to use batteries and only have one cable running down the neck seal. The box you see is the Aker battery. Tony has a link to it in his Helmet electronics thread.
