Future trooper seeking advice from the experts!

Recommended Posts

I would like to begin this post with a big thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us new to trooping.  Where it not for the hours I have spent pouring over the various threads the past few days I would have apparently mad a HUGE mistake purchasing my armor from stormtrooper-costumes.com.  So a big thank you to all for sharing your experiences with us!

I am desperately eager to join the ranks of you fine folks and I still have no idea where to start.  I have been educating myself daily about the various makers of armor and the differences between them and am still not sure which would be the route to go.  I am 6'2" and 215 lbs and was leaning towards the RT-Mod route as it appears tailored for us who are bigger than the typical 5'10" 165 actors used on screen.  Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Again HUGE thank you for sharing your knowledge and hopefully I can someday join the ranks!!

Hey Chad,

Welcome aboard man! First off, jump on FaceBook and introduce yourself to the people on the Star Garrison group.

This one is open: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Star-Garrison-of-the-501st-Legion/155799257916211?ref=br_tf

(There is also a closed group for members)

You will find that the SA folks will be more than happy to assist you with questions and answers. Don't feel afraid to ask here and there with anything you want to know. There's some locals that will be able to help you in person. Ask about attending an armor party, I believe there is one coming up soon.

RT-MOD or the new NE may be your best bet, from the sounds of it. Take your time, enjoy your build, and as they say, "Measure three times, cut once..."

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Thanks for the link!  I'm waiting to hear back as I emailed the contact for the RT armor and am anxiously awaiting a reply!  I will definitely check in with some local folks.  Thank you again for showing me where to start.
