Guest gootch138
so whats the best way to add shims to the side of ap armor to make the chest and back actually connect on a bigger guy
Palpatine1977
I have seen a few mods where people have simply measure out the shim, and then put the rivets through the ab plate as well as the shim, and then connected the other side of the shim to the kidney plate with strapping the same way that you normally would attach the ab and kidney
Clamps[TK]
I connected my AP Ab/Kidney shims on the inside of the kidney using for a strip of sale sign (more flexible than an interior covers trip). I then covered that with Gaffe Tape (white duct tape will also work). To keep the stress off the shim, I connect my strapping from the main kidney to the Ab. skirge66
Looks good Rugbyrat, was curious what did you use to apply the paste to the seam? I know it seems like a stupid question and all, but I have been nervouse about doing this mod myself.
rugbyrat
I used ABS paste to fill the seams where the shims meet the kidney. Sanded it down with 1500 grit sandpaper and applied a touch of gloss white paint. When sanding, I covered the armor near the seam (leaving the seam and about 1/8" on either side exposed) with 3 layers of masking tape so that I did not sand the armor.
