sskunky Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 (edited) I have just done a run of armour and lids in 2mm pinseal ABS which is a lovely creamy white glossy plastic. I'll get some pics up shortly..... The pinseal texture is not easy to photograph but it is the closest I have got to the originals yet. I was hoping to be able to use 1.5mm but it is not possible to get a white gloss back to it whereas the 2mm is.... Here's a reaser of my new Oakley helmet in 2mm pinseal. Rich330[TK] Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Helmet and material look great. Is the uneven texture on the tubes in the moulds or is it a rough pull? Joe's helmet is super smooth in comparison. Quote
sskunky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 Yeah the roughness is on the mould. I'll be cleaning it up later but for this run it there. Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Yeah the roughness is on the mould. I'll be cleaning it up later but for this run it there. Cool. I just wasn't sure whether we were looking at a cast of a bumpy original helmet. Quote
sskunky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 It might well be as it is on the mould. Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 It might well be as it is on the mould. Sounds like you might have to offer two versions! I'm no expert but having seen pictures of Joe's old helmet, I tend to think the helmets were all super smooth and the bumpiness is some kind of wear on the moulds. ANH helmets certainly had their bumps but I think the ROTJ cast looks like it turned out smooth. Quote
