Nathaniel_Hare Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Hi All! I'm planning on purchasing a set of TK armor but am worried about things not fitting right. I stand 66 inches tall, currently 188 pounds (I gained back what I lost the year before which will disappear - I've picked up ice hockey), 40 inch chest, 38 inch waist, 42 inch hips, 28 inch inseam, 26 inch thigh, and 17 inch calf; in shirts I wear a medium and pants in between a medium and large. I am torn between three makers of TK stuff: AM, ATA and VT; my hobby skills are that of a rancor. I purchased a stunt helmet kit from VT and am very pleased with their work however I don't have a steady hand and botched the frown area, therefore I must buy a new one. As far as armor kits are concerned, I would like to avoid using shims as they deter from the illusion. I would like to have as much response from people who own any or all of the mentioned armor kits to assist in my decision. I appreciate everyone's knowledge - this is a fantastic source of information! Thank you! -Nathaniel Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 mod AM or sidegap AP or sidegap ATA your overall waist measure and your height are the factors to consider in armor. sidegap means that you'd have perfectly acceptable panels filling the gap at your waist. Quote
john danter Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Sorry about your lid. Dpending on what you've done, turn into a ANH based ROTJ lid You'll paint that whole area black, so it may not sow up so bad Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 At 5'6" AM will be long on you and you'll likely end up trimming some length from most (if not all) of the pieces. Not that it can't be done - refer to Pandatrooper's AM build thread - but it'll be a lot of work. If you have an unsteady hand or the modding skills of a rancor, it'll be that much tougher. My advice - get yourself an ABS ATA kit. Quote

Nathaniel_Hare Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 You bought the ATA ABS TK Armor! With this armor you can look just like those troopers seen in Star Wars! some assembly required I followed your recommendations and spent a nice chunk of change; I can't wait to start! By the way, I plan on selling the VT helmet finished as a clean sandtrooper so the owner can decide where they want the dirt, a pair of Mark Cheng's Stormtrooper boots, and a set of FX helmet decals but I can't post anything in the for sale section. Help would be most appreciated. I will keep everyone updated as I go along (in a different thread) readily accepting tips! Thanks! Quote
