stickers or hand painted decals for helmet

Quality stickers don't really wear out that quickly. I think they are quick and effective method of detailing a helmet.

Painting the details is harder, but makes it easier to replicate a specific helmet or look. If you aren't comfortable with painting, just get stickers - they are more than acceptable for most (not all) helmet builds.

Personally, I have painted the details including tube stripes on my last 5 helmets, and have been pleased with the results. But as Gary stated, it depends on the look you're going for.

If you are asking what would I do? I say, do the hand paint details, instead of sticker/decals.

If you are worried about the hand painting the detail not being perfect, don't sweat about it. The hand painted details on the original ANH lids were far from perfect.

But it is up to the individual what they want to do with there build.

But, just take a look at this link and you will see what I am talking about:

Below are a couple of reference comparison collages of original hand painted ANH TKs and TDs to help you:

Let me see if I got this right. When you ask what style he's going for, it's becasue:

ANH Stunt/Hero -- All hand painted details

ESB/ROTJ -- Traps and stripes decals, rest hand painted

Correct. :duim:

Plus, the ANH TDs (Sandtroopers) are also hand painted details.

TE also said that some of the ANH helmets in the archives had decals too, I suppose these could have been added post production but the picture is what it is...
