I'm examining prices and find that shipping a box of armor in an 18x18x18" container is very pricy. 300-500$

I've had items shipped to me previously at rates of ~$100. I've checked UPS, USPS, FedEx and DHL. The best option seems to be JetCarrier.com at ~$200. Any advice on getting it cheaper?

Check out cheap third party courier sites. They often offer the same services by the same companies at a fraction of the cost. I use www.parcel2go.com

I'm sure there is something like this over there?

Parcel2go have stung me in the past Mark.

Be warned. When something goes wrong they're a'holes. Don't really care

I gave up trying to get my cash back

If it's a one off, having a friend in the army stationed somewhere close to where you want it to go is handy.

We use a US chap stationed in the UK from time to time. I don't like asking as it's cheeky, but if it's really expensive, we get charged customs fees, so he's ok with it I hope

Worth a try?

Shipping is really really expensive and I have used all sorts.

In the end I found it was cheaper to use an internal courier for the UK and I use parcel2go overseas, its cheapest by far, but i appreciate Johns comments.

I sent 2 boxes to US a while back and UK Parcel Force wanted approx £300, Parcels to go did it for less than half.

If recieveing I usually ask it to be marked a gift and less than $100 value, it is a gamble but we pay so much import tax here.

Basically however you ship you have 2 options.

1. Do it for the right value and with a reputable compnay, and pay a lot.

2. Go cheap and hope things go ok.

Even the UK post office is hassle if you need to claim, to be honest I think they are another ball of robbing chalk that have the monopoly on us Brits who have to go with them, so they charge what they like, but that is another story.

Regards

I've shipped packages of similar size to Malaysia for less than $50 using USPS Express Mail International. Fast, reliable, and comes with a door-to-door tracking number. Unless my customer asks for a cheaper method (and is willing to incur the risk of non-delivery), it's the only shipping method I'll use.
