Guest jedislayer5000 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 just gave this new super glue a test run and WOW is it ever strong haha, i tested it on two pieces of extra plastic strips, just a few drips in the center of the squares which are about one square inch, and 3 drops... held it together with my fingers for 30 seconds, let sit for 10 mins and now it is so strong i cant pull it apart with all my strength lol and thats only after 10 mins... as compared to e-6000 which i leave for 30 hours to cure, and i can still peel it off if i really wanted to i just pull up on one side and i can pull the whole strip off... thats not the csase with this lol, i would definitley reccoment it as its a formula meant to be flexible as well, and its gel so its non drip and no mess very easy application, here it is http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/sg_ug_cntrl/overview/Loctite-Super-Glue-ULTRA-Gel-Control.htm the only downside is its about 15x as expensive as e-6000 rofl... cost me 7 dollars for a 4ml tube as opposed to the same price for a 60 ml tube of e-6000 BUT i have no doubt it would take about 1/4 less glue to cover the set of armor so i would say probably 5 tubes of super glue = 35.00 not bad imo Quote
Guest jedislayer5000 Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 aaaaaand just finished cutting out the chest, back and butt pieces.. still need to sand them (will do that tonight) Quote
Guest jedislayer5000 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) ok finished sanding all of the above pics, not gonna post more pics of them.. use your imagination and finished cutting and sanding the rest of the pieces, now just gotta do one last wet sand with 1000 grit on every piece and wash them all to prepare for painting, paint and install strap system shoulder bells, you can see that there is a lip that faces outwards on both of them, they can be worn on either shoulder as this was canon so i will just test it and see which is most comfortable where belt and ammo strip, measured and cut these, then measured a 45 degree angle on all corners for the belt, and a 45 degree quarter circle on the bottom of both sides of the ammo belt, you can see the pencil line faintly where i measured ab panels and belt cover buttons, used an anh hero pic to get the reference on where to cut for these, will glue em after final sanding/washing of armor before painting shoulder straps, pretty self explanatory, again there was no mold lines whatsoever so i used reference pics for my cut lines sniper knee plate, man this thing does not sit flush with the shin at all haha, but i see from other builds that thats normal and you just force it and then optionally heat it to remove stress hand guards, very pleased with how these came out, used the mold shape to make my own return edge i think it came out nicely (sorry pics are fuzzy) the handguards are the only pieces i have with a real return edge besides the bottom of the chest plate, which has about a 3/4 inch return which is pretty soft, not a |_ shape like some... altho ive included a very small return edge on every piece of armor for a very smooth and thicker looking curve and rounded corners edit: spelling Edited November 25, 2010 by jedislayer5000 Quote
