KJ Build thread? Walt's Trooper Factory Kit
Tilheyra replied to MSF Productions's topic in ANH Build Threads
To prevent bunching of the bib on your neck seal, put on the neck seal prior to putting on the undersuit. That will keep the bib underneath the undersuit and not out where it is free to bunch up. Padding on the inside of the thigh and lower leg pieces can be used to pull the sniper knee outward and prevent contact with the bottom of the thigh piece. Put some padding on the back side (of the inside) of the lower part of the thigh piece, and some padding on the front side (of the inside) of the upper part of the lower leg piece. That padding will act to push the sniper knee forward and the bottom of the thigh piece backward. -
Detachment access has never been granted?
Tilheyra replied to toxication's topic in Forum Help & Support
Make a post in this thread with your request for detachment access: Make sure to follow the instructions in the first post as you will need to provide a link to your 501st Legion member profile. -
Congratulations on your completed build and approval!

Welcome! You've found the right place as there are a couple of Captain Enoch builds ongoing! We also have enough stormtrooper knowledge on the forum to keep any fan sated for years! Are you looking to have your Enoch build approved for the 501st Legion? @MaskedVengeance above has the thread about the progress in getting Enoch costumes to the point of being approvable (still a bit of a ways to go before that can happen). If you are looking to join the 501st Legion, in addition to the forum you can also talk with folks in the Mountain Garrison, which covers Colorado and Wyoming. Here's their website: https://mg501.com/ Having both online and in-person help is always great!

WTF First Time build. Need some feed back, thanks in advanced !

Nice! Must be relieving to have your GML's blessing on the ears! -

Reducing the width of the ear tops should also help with the gap on the front of the ear piece. Once the width is reduced, you may need to trim the rest of the ear piece just a bit to get a closer fit. Having some gap is okay (I have the same), but it is best to reduce that as much as we can. -

It may be an artifact of the angle of the photo, but it appears the black brow trim is higher between the eyes than on the outside edge of each eye. It is easier to correct this prior to fitting and securing the ears with screws or bolts, so you may want to make any changes to this prior to securing the ears. As for the ears, what do they look like when overlapping with the joint between the front and back pieces of the bucket? It can be a bit difficult to tell given that the ears are not trimmed to accommodate the curves of the helmet, but it is good to test for an overlap. Overall, in addition to slowly working to incorporate the proper curve in the ear pieces to fit around the curves in the helmet, you will want to make sure the ear pieces completely cover the joint between the two pieces of the helmet. The ears are tedious (as others have mentioned), so expect that this will take a lot of time, and be diligent to do a little trimming, then checking fit, then trimming, then checking, then trimming, then checking, and repeat until the fit is about as good as you can get (and in line with the CRL). Also, as the helmet tends to be a bit asymmetrical, do one ear piece at a time and expect some differences in trimming you will need to accomplish for each ear. -
I am glad you are happy with your progress, because you should be! This looks great so far! I think Keep Trooping says you can expect up to 2 waves (2 months) to get your order. However, I received my boots after about 1 month. Mind you, I am a shock trooper, so I ordered different boots than you (red boots of the shock trooper versus the white boots for the ANH TK). As for feedback, I will leave most of that to others here who have built an ANH Stunt. However, one thing that catches my eye are your belt boxes. Are you planning on submitting this for Centurion? If so, the outer edges of your belt boxes will need to be aligned with the edges of the plastic belt face (the CRL notes that as a Centurion requirement). I should not go too much further with feedback at this point, but others should be here soon to provide feedback!

Hello from Massachusetts. Ratchet IC-14179
Tilheyra replied to Rob Mitus's topic in Forum Help & Support
In addition to what JBar has said, I recommend making a build thread! That way you can post photos of your build and ask as many questions as you want! Here's where the ANH build threads are posted, and where you can start one as well: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Also, if you are building this for 501st Legion approval, running your plan for the biceps by your GML would be a good thing to do. -
KJ Build thread? Walt's Trooper Factory Kit
Tilheyra replied to MSF Productions's topic in ANH Build Threads
If you are really careful about it, you could use a small wire brush to remove as much of the remaining burs as possible from the end of the screw where you cut, then a socket wrench to remove the nut. Also use a screwdriver on the head of the screw/bolt to prevent it from turning when using the socket wrench. Just be slow and careful when doing this so as not to damage the inside of the helmet. Also, did your kit come with a second set of ears? WTF kits usually come with a second set. -
Welcome! Ask as many questions as you want and need! We're here to help! Looks like you have been doing ample research from what you have mentioned, so you are off to a great start! That's the beauty of cover strips! No one will really know as long as you get all the other measurements right! It's good that you are using interior cover strips (although, you can get away with just an exterior cover strip in areas with less stress and tension). That will especially become important when you work on the lower leg armor, as the opening the lower legs to take them on and off puts a lot of stress and tension on the front joints.

9yrs in the closet...no Tom Cruise jokes thank you.
Tilheyra replied to StormTroopa's topic in ANH Build Threads
It's only after sanding the edges that we get the look of clean lines. As you browse through different build threads you will see that just about everyone's cuts look rough just after using a knife or shears. Some sand the edges before putting everything together, and others (me) sometimes wait to sand until after putting the parts together. Nevertheless, the edges look rough prior to sanding. That is unavoidable. You're already in a great place by having started your build! Plenty of folks feel daunted and/or overwhelmed when they see all the pieces laid out prior to doing any work. It's great that you have moved through that feeling of being daunted or overwhelmed to begin your build! Take it a step at a time as you research different build threads and measure, cut, and assemble the pieces. The threads that @gmrhodes13 has posted will give you excellent guidance (as will Glen and others here) in navigating your build. As @Nairy alluded to, the asymmetry of the armor provides helpful hints for which pieces go on which side. Reading through different build threads, as well as the ANH reference threads, will give you an idea of which pieces go on each side as your build. As is the case when building any stormtrooper (or any costume in general), research is key and give yourself plenty of credit for getting this far and making progress! You'll make more progress some days than others, but the more you learn and the more questions you ask will all help keep up the momentum to bring your stormtrooper to life! -
Agree with the others. Better to order a little big than to end up with something too small. You may have seen this before, but here's the sizing discussion on the Keep Trooping website: https://keeptrooping.com/sizing-2/

TIE Pilots fall under the Jolly Roger Squadron. Here's their forum: https://jrs501st.com/forums/ TIE Pilots are the most popular costume in the 501st Legion, followed by Stormtroopers, so there's plenty of knowledge and help to be had for each costume!

Congratulations!!! It is an amazing feeling to finally have armor approved! Looking forward to awesome troop photos and updates! Here's how to make a troop log: -
Hurray!!! I need more coffee before I respond to posts in the morning. I skipped right over that part.

Welcome to the forum, Mário! Feel free to ask as many questions as you want as you plan out your Incinerator build! Once you are ready to start your build, I highly recommend creating a build thread in the Incinerator Trooper section of the forum to show off photos of your build progress and ask questions as you go along.

Welcome, Seth! Do you have any questions that we can answer to help you on your stormtrooper journey? What stormtrooper are you interested in building?

Welcome, Jason! In addition to posting questions and build updates on the forum (highly encouraged), being in touch with your local garrison is also helpful. If you are not familiar, there are two garrisons in Indiana, and those are the Bloodfin Garrison and the Northern Darkness Garrison. Bloodfin is in the central and southern thirds of the state, whereas Northern Darkness is the northern third of the state. The dividing line between the two is based on the county one lives in, and Northern Darkness lists the counties on their homepage (if you are not in those counties, then you are in Bloodfin's territory). The Bloodfin Garrison website: https://www.bloodfingarrison.com/ The Northern Darkness Garrison website: http://www.ndgarrison.com/ I am in the Bloodfin Garrison, and FISD's Imperial Attaché for Bloodfin, so I can be of assistance to you if you would like. Although I have not built a sandtrooper, there are similarities in build construction between a sandtrooper and stormtrooper! Bloodfin also has a few sandtroopers, so we have local knowledge of the requirements of MEPD (the detachment for sandtroopers). My own armor is Walt's Trooper Factory, but as others have said, the kits from other makers may be more accurate for sandtroopers.

Welcome! The thread that Glen linked is the best place to begin to learn more about the different stormtrooper kits out there, and how to build a kit! Plus, the folks here on the forum are super supportive of anyone wanting to build the stormtrooper of their choice, and give fantastic advice! We also have a Discord server for answering quick questions!
