  1. Ok so snaps arrived today. Line 20's. Do you prefer 20's over 24's? So the idea behind your build is installing 5 snaps on the canvas belt. Then an additional 3 on the plastic ammo to snap the plastic ammo to the belt, then install 2 additional on the torso to install the canvas belt itself to the torso? That's alot of snaps. Isn't that kind of increasing the likelihood of a popped snap? Or is it evening out the bend at the two torso snaps? Lot of physics going on there. On my build I'm going straight through the plastic ammo and canvas without snaps to the belt, basically riveting the plastic to the belt. Then securing the canvas belt to the torso with the original button snaps.
  2. How often does Doopy Doo sell? Out of Stock since last October. Are they still around? I don't have a 3d printer. I'd have liked a full kit or at least a conversion of the Hasbro from Doopy. I need to get to work on my weapon while trying to drop a few pounds to fit in the TK I've built. I mean I did pick up the Hasbro with the hopes of the conversion, but now after I look at it the trigger is all off, can't put a spring in it, it won't even fit in my holster right. :D.
  3. I feel I need to redo my straps on the chest. Too tight. I mean it's kind of a double wammy with being overweight, but I made my chest straps so small it's pulling the chest up. It'd be nice if there were a place that actually makes the loops that are the correct size because I don't trust myself in getting them the correct size. Maybe I'm jumping the gun in that, it's my weight that's doing this? Maybe it doesn't need 'fixed'. But I'm looking at that chest and codpiece and it sure does look like it needs to come down and overlap significantly.
  4. So, this is the real reveal. I've got a lot bigger fish to fry than accuracy. I've got about real time 30 pounds weight loss with cardio bike riding before I'm anywhere near submitting. Just being real with all of you. Lot of work ahead. Belt buttons first, then chest plate loosening/replacement of the loops again. Just to allow my helmet to move freely and not be choked. I got a literal TON of work to do with myself and my own body. I'm sure alot of us coming out of this Covid are going to need alot of Cardio this summer. Just speaking for myself though. I kinda look like the TRON guy....ugh
  5. Squeeks in the armor sound about right?
  6. So I'm thinking the legs are done finally. Camera lost focus towards the tail end unfortunately. Bit of a sharp edge on the left cheek. Will have to remedy that.
  7. Yea, I think I'm down to going back and tidying things up now, get the wrinkles worked out. Belt and Chest plate.
  8. Finished the elastic straps for the Thighs. Applied all Velcro to both shins last night. Ready for a fitting sometime today. Next up is reworking the belt snaps for the torso ammo belt. Snaps coming in by Thursday/Friday this coming week.
  9. I'll look into that. I've also got the 20's on their way for arrival next Friday. Half tempted to replace the belt though since that earlier episode. If only I could, but with RS down...bleh. I could only order like a set of 10 I think for like $7.00 or so. You seem to have hundreds. Nice score! These are the Tandy ones I've got coming. I got confused on ebay when they started asking what size post... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Line-20-Snaps-Nickel-Plated-10-pk-By-Tandy-Leather-1261-02/301524925466?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  10. No I didn't go out of my way to add any curvature. I've not even seen a suggestion for that in any tutorials. It's always lain flat. Are you suggesting doing that?
  11. So today the final internal cover strip for the thigh is done cooking. Installed the loop in the right thigh as I don't have enough magnets to do both. I also am attempting to correct the misaligned outer cover strip for the right shin. Although it doesn't leave me but a sliver of room for a velcro strip at the bottom. Ordered some Line 20 snaps last night. I'm not sure what is wrong with the button snaps but they're just plain not holding the belt on. I don't know enough about how these snaps work, but it's just not a firm snap so looking at replacing both with something a little more robust. Could be a pain to drill out if I catch that cloth of the belt with a drill it could ruin it.
  12. I ordered some of these tonight. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Line-20-Snaps-Nickel-Plated-10-pk-By-Tandy-Leather-1261-02/301524925466?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The final Thigh is curing overnight. On to the thigh straps beginning tomorrow. I'm going to write Ritchie to see how just that one single strap has worked out for him but his response will probably come way after I've finished. I think I like CableGuys' idea of using velcro in the center. I've resisted putting snaps on the arms and legs and just went ruff and ready as Rob had. I may change that up later on.
  13. So here's my next problem with the belt. It utilizes some button snaps that honestly just seem inadequate. I press them on, they then pop back out. So first I considered replacing these with Line 24 snaps. Something a little more beefy. However, examining these button snaps a little closer, I'm wondering if I bent those internal pins inwards a little more, would they tend to snap on and hold better? I've not encountered something like this before. Anyone found a solution for this or am I on the right track of replacing them with line 24's?
  14. Thanks bud. So I've moved on to getting the inner reinforcement cover strips to the thighs. I cracked another 2 magnets. That's like 3 down now. Ordered another set of 10 but it's going to arrive too late to help glue down the elastics to the thighs. Going with N50's this time around so as not to have to stack. Waiting to break a finger or a bad pinch with those. Makes me nervous with going with a single elastic's tension rather than Rob's doubling up on them. But my sister did alot of sewing of those loops. If not enough tension it'll ride down my legs into the knee joint and shins. Again, always having those second thoughts on procedure before I do it.
  15. So ok; Question. On the thigh Elastics, the way Rob does it is just folding the 16" of Elastic over and CA glueing thus creating a loop at the top. The way RichieStromtrooper does it is sew a loop and then glue the rest internally/cut off the unneeded length. I chose the sewn method. Will there/Is there a problem with this method? Which method did you do? Will the lack of added tension of 2 elastics be of any concern? What is the most widely used effective method? I guess I'm asking the same question twice for clarity, but the way I plan on doing it is sewn and E6000. Trimming about 8" off at the bottom. Am I doing this wrong?
  16. Stupid Shins. I toldja this was gonna be hard! Andrea is not taking any orders so I'm going to have to call the sniper knee good until a fitting can be done. I'll go ahead and take the fitting photos and after that may need to peel the CS off that rear shin and try again. There's not much room to play with back there. I don't even recall making that cut on the sniper knee. I think it came like that. The only trimming I did was the bottom where it mates up to the 2 halves of the shin. I'll dig through some old photos.
  17. Yea this is just becoming too damn hard man. Doing my best, yet not good enough so...very disheartening. Thanks for your help Cable and not pickin at me. Prolly end the build here and just continue it with my Garrison and their input. This gettin a little crazy. I can't simply replace things after the RS fire. Andrea was a little miffed I even inquired about the sniper knee. This is gettin just a little crazy when the actual screen costumes NEVER went this far in accuracy.
  18. Ok, I have contacted my local Garrison GMLs.
  19. I've been running this build thread through my local Garrison as well. I'm not near ready to submit anything though. I need to lose some weight before I plan on doing that. After I get the garter on for the thighs I plan on another round of fitting shots. I may need to do something with that shin yet if it looks tremendously wonky. Your opinions are valued highly.
  20. Best I can do on the sniper knee without replacing it and that currently is unable to be done due to the fire at RS Propmasters. So, I've adjusted it as high as what follows the contours of the knee. I can't order another one since the fire at RS.
  21. Yea I was going to ask about that. I've heard people recommending to use E6000. Wondering if E6000 can be applied over the stickyback.
  22. Ordered a roll of Velcro Industrial Strength White 'Low-Profile' for the shins. Anyone have any experience with that tape?
  23. Let me run a fit first Gmrhodes before I tear off that outer CS. Limited on Magnets. In the middle of installing inner cover strips for strength and reinforcement of the thighs and shins. Then I can glue in my belt loops to the thighs and do a thigh and shin overall fit photo shoot.
  24. Well I removed and used some heat on the inward slope of the two sides. Reglued., following the curves as high as I could. I don't know if I can improve on it any further. I also don't know if E6000 is going to be able to hold the form short of using CA. That top edge really rides the top of the shin mold. Very plausible I may have trimmed the sniper knee a bit close. I can try to contact RS and order a new one. as for the shin rear cover strip. I can try to remove that and reset it but I have to be careful there's enough room for a velcro strip. As I stated earlier when I used heat to align the top of the ridges together, it twirked the bottom to the left a bit more than I'd like. I never trimmed that corner it was that close to center. I would have preferred a roll of the velcro, but Menards only had the small strips (like 4") I'll see if I can find a roll now somewhere or order it online.
  25. The Left Shin wrap up. Final trimming of the sniper knee. Absolutely NO edge trim. Attempting to get this on correctly. It's a little off on appearance from the inside because of the mismatch of the RS front and rear seams of the shin, adjusted with heat. This is my first close up of the sniper knee, so I'm hoping I've got this on there well with the E6000 glue. It would always slide out of place using clamps and my magnets were busy on another piece. Down to tape.
