As Rob would say 'This is not for me'. Watching the tuts, I was like - I can do that! Now each cut frightens me to death. My first ever hard armor build. A RS Propmasters 'Idealized' Stormtrooper. PVC build. I've got a bad feeling about this. :p First shot is thrilling, here I recieved my shipment of beautiful ANH Stormtrooper armor. I couldn't wait to open up the helmet box and marvel.

I got it! Finally and the brow seems alot tighter now. I had to disassemnble/drill out the rivets, used magnets this time up front. slotted all 4 rivet holes and retightened. The Magnets I think did the trick as I would need like 3 or 4 arms otherwise.

I completely understand your point on the return edges. What I'm afraid of is taking all of it completely off thus making the huge gap even larger But thank you so much for confirming I DO need to cut these to my size.. I was considering just trying 1/4" at a time and recheck for fit. Wow, thank you so much for your input. I have as a matter of fact been snapping shots along the way. I will attempt to do a build thread. Never done that on a forum before. Without researching, is there a particular area where I would place this build thread? Ritchie Stormtrooper appears to be doing exactly what I think I'm needing to do. So that's a nice confirmation. I also sent him a note on his site to confirm it further before I put metal or dremel to plastic. I need to begin thinking of a compression cloting to begin fitting all these parts. It'd be really nice if under armor would stop putting all the pinstriping and logos everywhere they can. Just a straight Jet Black.

I need to buy a sheet of PVC white cover strip material. Working on my RS Kit PVC Stormtrooper. Finished the build of the Helmet first. Now getting to all the cover strip making and discovered it was ABS rather than PVC, which is discolored more tanish than the 'idealized' PVC. It will also yellow faster. So, apparently they may have grabbed the wrong stock sheet to send me. Is there somewhere I can BUY a couple of PVC white sheets from someone in the States here that is the same material (I believe 1.5 mm is correct?) It's been a couple days since I've written Rob and a day after emailing Andrea. Am I being impatient? Is this normal - happened to anyone else? :s

So I checked out Hazamel's Topic and build however his problem was that they felt too tight. I by far don't have this problem as I included those images. I have at least 2 fingers in between both the Upper and Lower bicep armor. I mean if they're just going to hang off the bells, they're going to be bouncing around in every direction. Loose and baggy. I've not found a thread yet that describes the cutting procedure., just the trim edge.. I thought you were having a problem with this as well. Apparently your solution was install padding inside rather than cut the circumference down. I mean, I don't think that 13" is too extreme, but then I'm talking about my own body. I'm thinking the RS biceps are 14-3/4" in circumference at the bottom, give an inch for a finger so call it 15-3/4" at the bottom, and I'm like 12" at the bottom near the elbow. I can easily get 2 fingers in top and bottom. That is nearly 2-3/4", which which would be over an inch trim on either side. Stumped. Only thing I can think is trimming 1/4" on both sides which would give me 1/2" and go from there in fitting.

Ok. Snapped a few. I either need a tripod or a 3rd arm. Hope this helps to understand where I'm coming from. I'm sweating every darn part.

I know right? I've watched that probably a hundred times. He never really addresses the issue other than taking off the trim edge. Rob says near the end it's a little tight, but never addresses if it's too big. I've even sent emails asking, but never got a reply. Glen you mentioned in another thread where you had to slim yours down. Do you have any pics or procedures on that? I'm tempted to just jump in and take 1/4" off each side of the outer. Spending way too much time researching this and not getting anything done. But I guess that's about right if you're really not sure how to proceed. 1 finger rule is what I'm trying to stick with.

Hopefully this is just a simple question. Wanted to confirm my build. Working with an RS self build Stormtrooper. On the bicep, my first test fit after trimming. Too big. So it's my understanding that I need to fit it down about 1 to1.5 Inches. So I believe that the procedure is to trim about half an inch to 3/4" on both edges of the tricep/outer plate to split the difference. I've been told never to cut down the inner side. Is my thinking on this clear?

I was told that once I install the ear screws it may sort itself out? But your probably right I'll end up tearing it all back apart again.

I guess what I'm most afraid of is when running the twin screws in, that it distorts the helm raising the brow on the left side. But I'll know more tomorrow when I pick up a new flex shaft. Being my second try I don't really want to change up to an exacto or freehanding it with the actual heavy dremel itself. Just need to be careful not to overtrim the ear before I find out what putting the screws in will do.

I may have it under control. The first attempt failed as I took too much meat. I get one more try before I have to order beg, plead for another pair of left ear trim from RS. But this is my problem, this warbled garbage mess on the left of the helmet. It's hell to work around. It's a very firm warbled area.

I got the Right ear on just fine. It's just that buggered up left ear area from RS Propmasters is what's giving me a real problem. Began trimming my second chance left ear when my Dremel flexishaft 225-T2 broke. This left ear really has it in for me. Hard to believe Rob said the left was the easiest.

Why oh Why did my flexishaft have to break NOW?! 225-T2 $30 trip to Lowe's or Menards tomorrow.

Yep starting with the helm. Screws and NUTS is the plan. Gotta see if I have some on hand before going looking for 4mm screws as tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Shame that my first try with rivets went so poorly.

Drilling out the rivets is doable. Pretty sure you both meant screws and nuts? The PVC is just a bit difficult to work with as it's very stiff.

I am working on my bucket (ANH RS PropMasters). Joined the backcap and the face and after riveting, something seems a bit off. The brow is not sitting tightly on the face and there's a gap between the two. Hoping I can upload photos. I was going 100% by the RS tutorial and guide. Thanks guys. Well I pulled the trigger already. Did alot of research with whom I could find. I went with RS Propmasters TK. I'm in trouble now, I've never in my life built or tried to build anything like this. Feeling a little intimidated but I have all winter + Covid to build this. Right now I need to find the right glues and cure sprays and magnets here in the States. Oh and probably an undersuit, neckseal. Tried looking for a balaclava on Ebay but really not looking for something warm and hot for winter riding... I need so much more stuff now. Not even looking for boots. Gonna be a long, grueling build for me. Oh BTW, the painting looks really hard. Would you suggest that or go find some decals? I should probably handpaint to stick to the ANH theme. Gonna be working with PVC rather than ABS. So yea - I'll have alot of questions

A brand Newby from Lima, Ohio. Pleased to be here. I signed up and am joining the Ohio Garrison. I mainly want to be a StormTrooper, but I also love the Tie Pilot. So I gotta put a costume together. At any rate I have done alot scatterbrain hobbies. Way too many. From 80s arcade collecting to Drones, Electronics Repair, Astronomy, VR and Flat screen gaming and probably more that I'm just not thinking of. My latest is Cosplay. I've done Star Lord and attempted Kadaj, but trying to pull off a teenage Kadaj requires alot of bishonen. Trying to pull off a teenager at double the age is just Hard, so I didn't want to disgrace the character. As a former US Marine I think I'll fit right in with a Trooper, Tie Pilot just looks cool and probably a lot more affordable entry into the 501st as a Reserve at first. Anyways I think what you all do is really first rate. I been watching Jake up in Alaska on Youtube for a bit and boy they know how to have alot of fun and some very nice people. So I am very intrigued and eager to check this whole scene out. Thanks for having me be a part of it.
