  1. Thank you [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Painted the mouth this evening. I'm really pleased with the way it came out, but I'm not sure I went out wide enough with the paint at the end of the frown? With so many different pics and versions of mouths for ANH stunt, I just chose one and tried to copy it. Let me know if anyone sees anything I got wrong. I ended up using a bit of white paint to touch up my "stead" hands. It doesn't seem to show unless I am using the flash. I am assuming this isn't an unusual practice, and it wont show in daylight?
  3. Quick update on my bucket progress. Been slowly working away and getting the details done. Painted inside of bucket. Added lenses Hovi mic tips Painted ears - Going to paint rank bars soon Just need to paint frown, apply decals, and add S-molding.
  4. Thanks Joseph. I actually already masked off and repainted the handle and T-tracks. So there will be no question on EIB. Realizing I'll need a different one for Centurion - just have to get that EIB first. Thanks to you and eveyone on the forum for their support and input.
  5. Trooperbay helmet decals arrived today, and I'm finishing up painting Hovi Mic tips. A little sanding on the tips to remove any stray paint and they should be good to go. But first going to pull the helmet apart mask it off and paint the inside black. Going to use bed liner, as I've used it on other projects and I like the finish feel. I've read on the forum a couple of guys used it, and didn't have any problems. Realize these are small trivial bits of the project, but I'm about done with the armor and this helmet has been my big fear... so now I'm tackling it - the home stretch is in sight. I'm getting excited. Stay tuned...
  6. I saw the post: "time to STEP UP" first 1000 EIB before the end of the year, and decided I need to shoot for this! I've been working on my armor, I'll need to order Imperial Boots, and possibly refine my Rubies blaster. I plan on posting armor pics tomorrow, but for tonight, wanted to post the blaster work. based on what I read, I think this blaster will comply? I just need to remove painted "metal scratches and weathering" from the T-tracks and handle? Here's the progression: screw holes filed Barrel holes drilled Paint D-ring and power cylinders Rivets added weathering and distress added Hengstler counter number, scope sight and D-ring details Power cylinders and wire details It's been a fun project, and I hope it will work for trooping until I can upgrade.
  7. Thanks Joseph. Spent a fair amount of time on this bucket today. A labor of love - making progress .5 millimetres at a time. But I think I'm there. Still have some of the distortion from the mold defect, but overall I'm much more pleased with it.
  8. Maybe I can finish up and skip basic and go for EIB. Would be cool to be part of the first 1k! I need non-seam boots - and I just saw that Imperial opens back up next week! I think I'm going for this!!!
  9. How does my Vocoder look? Curious about the sides of the outside bars. If I paint them the bars look really WIDE from the front. Please advise
  10. Here are the ears from this weekends work. Removed material from the left side and brought ear in closer. Brow came down a bit in the reworking - but it still looks ok IMO. Got the right side attached too. My OCD wants to try and bring the right side in closer, but worried about the imperfections in mold on the face plate as it meets the right side ear. Thoughts?
  11. Been working hard on the bucket today. Lots of tweaks, a few holes drilled and then re-drilled... But want to get feedback on the placement of the Left ear. Think I got the angle correctly (screws aligned with the back side of the trapezoid) But not sure about the height? Does ear need to go down more? Personally I like the way it sits and looks. I'm unsure about gaps in the front and back. Should I try to remove material from the top of the ear, and bring them in closer? Do a bit of refinement on the cuts to the ear?
  12. Think I got brow fixed. Believe it was the magnet pressing on the cap. The brow trim is a little janky by the left ear. I may need to trim it a bit as I continue to refine the bucket.
  13. Congrats. I'm striving to join the ranks in the near future. :-)
  14. I've been rough cutting ears, and starting to get a better feel for the bucket. I'm almost ready to drill and bolt (or rivet) the face and cap/back. Then I'll get to cutting more on the ears. Wanted to get feedback on how I have the brow set up. I've scoured pics of ANH Stunt -and honestly you can find them all ways (high brow, low brow, tilted up, not tilt, etc.) Would like some input if/how I should tweak before I drill and bolt together. Thanks
  15. Afternoon all, I've spent a fair amount of time messing around with the helmet and trimming the edges for the ears. i've got lots of questions, so better I take them a bit at at time. First - the brow- do i need to trim it up more (see the red line on the pic)? I'm pretty happy with the left side (as you are wearing the helmet). looks like front and back will meet, and the ear piece will cover. It looks like it will come together with the rivet (or screws) But do I need to trim back more of the cap and back piece? The Anovos helmet kit that TheSwede posted seemed to be cut more below the ear and sweeping back towards the rear of the helmet? ok - right side (as you wear the helmet)... I am stumped? look at the pics below. see the gap? looks like the mold ended short, or something. look at the gap. Not sure how to fix it? tried using a magnet to pull them together, but it align. Do i heat it or water bath it? the material is fairly thin here - worried about "meltdown". Also trimming the edge - seems like the ear wants to align more vertically vs sweeping back (like I am told it needs to align with the angle of the back side of the trapezoid? any advice would be appreciated.
  16. Well, that helped me rule out that this is not an authentic Anovos helmet kit. My pieces are not near that crisp or clean (around the edges). I didn't have any of the additional parts, and my ears are uncut. But to me it doesn't matter. This is my first armor and I want to drive forward and complete it.
  17. Joseph, Let me just say that I'm honored to have you reply to my post. I've been scouring your posts ever since I found out I was receiving armor (Dec 25th). Regarding the armor - I'm sure you know much more than me. This is my first armor set/build. The question came up with my local garrison while I was corresponding on FB. Short answer is I don't know. The armor was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend who bought it used on EBay. She was told it was "Anovos" armor. It did not have numbering stickers on it but some of the pieces had been been trimmed so I just assumed the previous owner had removed it? To that end, I'm not sure of the maker? i've been following UKswrath Stunt build and it seems to be working. Do you have suggestions what I should follow to build the helmet?
  18. Also the teeth/mouth? more? Less? Will the Grey paint fill in /hide any of the small imperfections? Are the openings large enough (2nd, 3rd & 4th openings from the middle)
  19. OK - guys, need some feedback. Working on my helmet now. This one has been challenging. First and foremost - eyes and mouth cut outs. How are the eyes looking? Do I need any more trimming? Any feed back would be appreciated? Eye cutout
  20. Thanks Greg. I'm loaded up with Imgur and i'll start posting pics tonight. I need to get to the helmet, as i don't want to wait anymore and need some input. :-)
  21. It started a long long time ago - 1977 to be exact. It wasn't far far away- just Albuquerque NM. But I saw THAT movie - and those white gladiators on the screen - never-mind they often seemed to be getting blasted and didn't shoot very accurately. I was hooked on Stormtroopers! That shiny white armor - the cool grimacing frown... That summer and fall, I cut, shaped, rolled stapled and painted cardboard pieces into makeshift armor. I was in 3rd grade and built a very crude TK armor set for Halloween that year. My only regret is I don't have a picture to share (moms Polaroid was out of film). Ok, Ok - i'm dating myself here, but the point is I've wanted to be a Stormtrooper for a long long time. I married young, and money was always tight - so the cost of armor kept it out of my reach, until this last Christmas. Thanks to a generous girlfriend - I was gifted an Anovos TK kit. She found it second hand on Ebay. Honestly, i'm not even sure it's an authentic Anovos kit. But it arrived in early Feb - and I've been tinkering with it ever since. I fully intend to join the 501st, and have connected with my local garrison. They have helped along the way, and I'm grateful for the input. I always find myself checking back with here as i over analyze the details. So today - I finally said F%@K it. I'm going to put myself out there and post pics of my progress. I'm getting close with the body armor - but have left the helmet to last. So i'm here for feedback, guidance and insight. I'll post some back pics of progress, and get myself current on my build. Then I can post pics of this helmet build. Here are the pics of my BBB. As I said, I'm a ways past that day - and thanks to threads from Justjoseph63, UKswrath and CableGuy to name just a few- there has been serious progress. More photos to come. Looking forward to sharing. Thanks in advance for you patience with this old dog wanting to learn new tricks.
