  1. Do we have any idea as to who made this suit? Was this one of the Elstree suits or one of Ainsworths?

My understanding, and I could be wrong, was that Elstree made some suits prior to AA. but the Vac former was not up to the task of making 50+ suits.

The idea that Sandies had only one snap makes sense and falls in line with the fact that changes were made when they got to the studio, ab buttons, sniper plate why not an extra snap for adjustment.

I guess we will never really know as the documentation doesn't seem to exist although I live in hope that some more discoveries will be made.

  2. Paul- I have seen two different versions of the calf closure- the style you are doing with the hooks pointing inwards and another style with the hooks pointing outwards. The ones where the hooks point outwards mean the elastic is more out of sight and the calf can close more tightly whereas the inward facing mean the elastic is in between the two pieces and achieves a less flush look. Is one right and one wrong or is it personal choice?

For the record the outward hooks are on a 'replica' suit but the logic of doing it that way is why I am asking.

  3. Thanks Eric- found it and am using it!!

We have had this for the UKG for a while and now FISD my life is getting easier- thanks for doing this guys!

Wacky. I found it by searching using one of the following: stormtrooper, FISD, imperial.

What are you searching on? I can add it to the description so people can find it more easily.

    Aloha,

  4. I'll think you'll find that Mark-Firebladejedi introduced the idea of covert fixings with poppers way, way back in the day B)

And Mr.Haggis (Billhag) posted a splendid explanation / how to back in the good ol' days of 2008 :)

You can get screw rivets in loads of places in the UK mate, just do a Google and you'll see

tons of sites where you can pick them up in different sizes, widths and lengths smile.gif

The snap method works just as well and I had no problem with getting the snap to go through

the canvas belt or the leather holster strap smile.gif

  5. I can't believe what I am reading!!

I agree that the defence offered does look similar to that that a certain Mr A offered and we all know the story there.

I believe that the truth always comes out!

  6. Paul I am lucky enough to have met and trooped with you. You are a true gentleman and a very sincere and genuine guy. Your passion is unquestionable and your dedication is beyond reproach.

Very few can even imagine the time and work you have put in for us all and the rest you are now facing is well deserved.

I personally and sincerely thank you sir and look forward to trooping with you again soon!! ( About time you came here!)

  7. I just wanted to update everyone here.

Here are some pics of one of our troopers Darren Langthorne presenting the Helmet to young Owen.

He was totally blown away by the surprise and by all accounts this was absolutely the highlight of his birthday!!!

Again many thanks to the guys at RS who so generously provided the helmet kit and many thanks to Pete ( Stukatrooper) Brebner for building it to perfection and of course to Darren for taking the time out and presenting the helmet to Owen!!

The pics really speak for themselves!!
