  1. Just referencing the clip above, and nothing else in the rest of the show -

    • These Stormtroopers appear to be wearing R1TK style armor.
    • I personally can't tell if the ear rank bars, traps, and tears are OTTK or R1TK, but
    • Take a look at 0:27, 0:32-0:34, and 0:56-0:58 - I think those tube stripes are cut out, but it could just be the lighting.  Or maybe I just want them to be cut out, because I feel that R1 buckets should be worn with R1 armor. :glare:

No pictures from intermission yet, but I did the "mannequin" trick twice - the first was unintentional, but the second was entertaining. :D

  4. First off - I've been approved! :D

Hi, You're right, it should'nt be a matter. By the other side, your forearms seems to be thicker , as a suggestion you may want to make them thinner so you can have a better look.

I know - they're a little blocky.  I don't know how much I can taper them and still be able to fit my hand through the wrist opening, though.

Hi, Gary. Great to see one more trooper enlisting.

About your request to your GML, did you complete the join form in  https://www.501st.com/members/join_form.php  ?

It's a little bit strange that you haven't received any new about.

    Good luck.

I 'm already a member, so it should just be a matter of adding the TK, shouldn't it?

Hey Gary! I don't see anything glaring that should keep you from approval on the armor, but to be frank, the paint on your helmet leaves much to be desired. The frown will definitely need cleanup for higher levels of approval as well as the traps, ears, and vocoder. Have you considered using decals? While hand painted is more accurate, decals are acceptable even at Centurion and will look much cleaner.

A couple places sell them, but these from Trooperbay should work: https://trooperbay.com/decals/prop-replica-decals/star-wars-props/troopers-tk/new-fx-replacement-helmet-decals

I also use his ear pinstripe and rank bars and have been very pleased with the result.

    https://trooperbay.com/decals/prop-replica-decals/star-wars-props/troopers-tk/ear-rank-decals

If you want to go hand painted, he also has stencils available.

    https://trooperbay.com/decals/prop-replica-decals/star-wars-props/troopers-tk/trooper-helmet-masking-templates

Hope this helps! You're in the home stretch, buddy!

I know - the paint on the helmet is ... well.  The vocoder was overpainted by the original owner, so these pictures are after cleaning in up.  All of the stickers were crooked, and the CRL didn't allow them at Centurion then, so everything was removed.  So I used the Trooperbay templates for an AM helmet, which I was told this was ...

Everything will get cleaned up, as best as I can, but I'll take basic approval for now.

  6. I have to admit - I originally wasn't going to do this.

I finished my rebuild of this costume back in April, and with May the 4th right around the corner I went straight to submitting pictures to my GMLs.

But I'm still waiting to hear back from them (not a word, not a peep, not even a "fix your bicep hooks!"), so I guess I can still be considered for Pre-Approval Review. ;)

    So:

     1.  Gary Sackett

    2.  Garrison Excelsior / Nickel City Squad

    3.  Armor maker: AM

    4.  Helmet maker: AM? (original owner was unsure)

    5.  Cloth belt maker: Imperial Issue

    6.  Neck seal maker: Darman

    7.  Boot maker: TK Boots

    8.  Blaster maker (if applicable): still being assembled

    10.  Holster: Darman

    11.  Height: 5'11"

    12.  weight: 200 lbs

    13.  TK type: ANH Stunt

    14.  Name(s) of any Trooper(s) who significantly helped with your build - none in person, but I would like to thank everyone who commented on my re-build thread.

If you get a ST number, and later complete a set of TK armor... are you always ST? Or do you get a TK number as well? Or is it the same number and you just have different prefixes depending on the armor? Thanks

Costumes have different ID prefixes, for Stormtrooper it's TK so you would have ST and TK. You can find a full list here http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLbyname It the numbers which never change ;)

    For example, I'm ID-17032 and TS-17032.

    I'm waiting on TK-17032 (pictures submitted). :smiley-sw013:

    And I'm already planning CX-17032. :D

    LOOKING GOOD GARY!

I agree with gmrhodes13 about lowering the bicep to reduce elbow gap.

I also wonder if the diameter of the wrist on your right forearm could be made smaller (without sacrificing the ability to put it on)

Hope you get approved! GE needs more TK's

The wrists are just the right size to slip my hands through, and that's after I removed the return edges.

I sent our GMLs pictures with the biceps lowered about a week ago - I haven't heard from either of them yet.

  9. I originally thought about using velcro for the shins, but I decided on a method similar to James':

Except that I'm using these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Magcraft-Rare-Earth-1-2-in-x-1-2-in-x-1-8-in-Block-Magnet-10-Pack-NSN0911/204691493

I had used a double pair of regular bar magnets as a temporary measure for the right shin upper closure.  There are now two pairs of rare earth magnets in each shin.

I'm currently working on shaping the belt and on fixing that crack ...

  10. Wow, I haven't updated this in a while ...

So the good news is that I thought that I had everything ready for my Pre-Approval thread/submission pics on Saturday night.

Then the right shin kept popping open, the left end of the belt popped off, and ... well, you'll see below.

    Hey Peter!

You should check out the local garrison for Albany area, which I believe is Garrison Excelsior.  They can give you information on how to get your costume approved once you're done constructing it/receiving it, and help guide you towards events :)

    Alay beat me to it.

There are three are four events currently scheduled/planned around Albany - I'm over by Buffalo, so I lose track of what's going on in the Capital Region.
