  1. I know their is one Chewbacca in Germany that is stellar crazy accurate.

There are two now, actually. One that has been around for a while, all self sculpted, hand punched hair and the right height as well, amazing costume.

And now there's this new one, had his debut at Jedi Con this year. Done by Jörg aka. "Trap Joe" on the RPF, and it's a beauty! It wasn't Chewie at the con, but a "werewookiee", had to do with the con opening movie. Still a fabulous costume!

  2. it's in the Gasometer (that huge tower right next to the Arena). They have a space exhibition there. We were invited to go to the press conference for Star Wars: In Concert which was held there. Someone important saw us and asked if we'd like to do a Star Wars theme night with them there.

Of course we agreed and now we'll hit the Gasometer with 50 people in costume on May 28th - and have a little exhibition of our own with Star Wars props and all that, will be great I'm sure :)

here's two pics taken of my mate Jens there at the press conference:

And the whole gang with Anthony Daniels:

Arena is quite a nice place for concerts as well, last band I saw there was the almighty Rush! Oh and Star Wars: In Concert just a few weeks back :)

  3. Okay, another update - I know it's not exactly screen accurate, but I love the chipped look on my Dave M. replica, but I don't want to troop in it all the time, so I added a few "chips" to my TM lid as well - they're painted on, so if you look closely in real life you'll see it's fake, but I like it for a trooping lid (and I'm not saying the TM ain't good enough for display!)

  4. Hmm, looks like I was too subtle with the weathering so far, it won't show up on pictures at all, except for the big scuffs. Looks good to the eye though.

I'm not sure what to do now, leave it subtle or get it really dirty... tough one, again! LOL

edit: Here's a pic, this time not as dark as the one I posted of the chest, you can see it's very very subtle:

  5. Yeah, now we're talking!

You don't have to go crazy with the weathering, something like this guy on the left would be perfect.

I've gazed at that pic for ages already, pondering wether I should just go for it. It looks really nice!

I've been there before, when I had that jumbo toy R2-D2 and felt it needed dirt... took time to actually do it though.

But now that I have done it, I would never go back - it's probably the same with the TK. I'm scared to mess it up though

  6. Yeah, rubber trim would work - but my hyperfirm E-11 is doing a great job leaving scuff marks already ;)

I really try not to be overly careful, so it's starting to dirty up already, but nowhere near to what we see on screen yet.

A lot of the weathering on the Dave M replica helmet there was done with crayons by the way - back to the (kindergarden) roots!

  7. I agree with you, a weathered set would be amazing - and heck, all the Boba nuts do it as well, let alone them Sandtroopers - and it's screen accurate after all! - I might just do it! ;)

I did wear a set of my latex handguards for some of the pics, but the only set I have ready right now is glued to a pair of gloves that is a bit too small for me... no fun wearing those!

I'm getting some Plastidip (good stuff) soon and will paint a new set for trooping, then it'll be latex all the time... now that sounds kinky :D

Here's a pic with latex handguards:

  8. Nice one Dan!

I really like the weathering you did, evry nice. You should do the same thing to your armour ;)

I like this shot. Screams ANH to me. No undersuit showing, bells tucked inside the chest, just awesome :D

Thank you Paul :) I'm still not sure wether I should weather my armour or let it happen naturally. I know I want it dirty - natural weathering looks more real close up, weathering it the way I did the helmet will make it look worn and old in no time... tough decision!

Yeah I really like that particular shot as well - but hey, I'm just the small guy sporting your armour, so a big part of the awesomeness is thanks to you really :)

  9. I love the last photo! :D

That was actually the photographer's idea (BH 4517) - he said I should bring all my lids along ;)

    I asked for this:

And while I'm posting, here's a pic of the Dave M. replica on display at the 501st booth at this year's Jedi Con. picture taken by Mr. ObiHahn :)

We also had a brilliant time trooping together there:

    :D

  10. I have a photo shoot in my TM soon, I'll take that lid along and have pictures made :)

As promised, here are the first pics of said photo shoot. I only got a small selection so far, I will get all the 300+ shots on a DVD tomorrow :) Didn't want to wait though:

Pics with the Dave M. replica:
