  1. you're right about the hard hat liner plastic not liking glue. even the old E6000 doesn't do it. that method is pure genius. i love it. it has inspired me to bodge together some kind of mini vac table as there are quite a few things this method could be applied too. thanks for the inspiration mate.
  2. With Hi-Res screen caps now doing the rounds you can see more and more of the strapping in the movies which helps us all to approximate a method similar to that of the movie suits. you can see in some shots strapping from bicep to forearms, straps sticking out from chest armour and there is a behind the scenes photo somewhere of one of the actors having a snooze with his leg pieces on where you can see a belt and garters arrangement, so by being able to see the straps we have devised far more alternatives so it's not too bad a thing to be able to see them. Paul TM i'm sure has a vast array of these pics as i think he has studied the strapping more than some people have studied the armour .
  3. i went for TM's approach after seeing it on MEPD a while back. My Garrison mates couldn't believe how quick i got in and out of the armour. it hangs better, feels better and more importantly makes the whole kit look better. thanks Paul. the great thing about it is when i'm having a quick break, i.e. toilet, choco bar, drink, i can take the main body armour off, still have all the arms and legs on, am able to sit down for 5 minutes and it takes literaly a minute to be kitted up again and out harassing people and all it is made out of is elastic and poppers. 4. BEEEYOOOTIFULL. Can i have one of those biscuits?
  5. E6000 all the way for me. once you get passed the funk of the stuff (do not use it in your lid though, speaking from experience here. i glued in a hard hat liner with it then 3 days later did a two day troop and felt sick as hell, i'm now hooked and on 2 tubes a day [J/K]). I went down the butted and stripped on all my limb pieces. the calves i can pull apart to put my leg in with my boots on and it holds fine. i'm so confident in the stuff i would like to try the old overalls glued to a sheet of wood then hoisted up by crane with me in the overalls. a new extreme sport. E6000 BUNGIE
  6. i thought that to get a EU costume cleared you needed reference material from at least 3 different sources. surely the Ralph McQuarie concept trooper was just one or two sketches and maybe a painting from 1 source. Fraking love it though. i've become almost mezmorised by it. strange how it never got used. i think it's menacing as hell.
  7. the arm and leg pieces were overlapped not butted as ANH were and the butt and kidney is all one piece. also the helmet itself is less asymetric, totally differs in shape to ANH and ESB in my mind. and as mentioned tha belt is definately some kind of cloth or elastic.
  8. Outstanding work mate. i agree with tk8020 on the faux HDPE exposure on the tube but it seems such a small quibble compared to the overall look of authenticity. i love the whole grimey nature of "accurate" screen accurate lids. am i jealous? you betcha!!
  9. Good to be here thanks Paul. i used the camping snap poppers and they seemed o.k. although i used the elastic supllied which i imagine is thinner than triple layered canvass. you do need to shape the inside of the covers a fair bit for them to sit over the popper and i also made a circular indent in the belt to sink the popper a wee bit. i'm going to glue some vinyl on the inside of the elastic for slightly more rigidity and also the vinyl may add purchase to the plastic as i have all the heavy leather ammo pouches on it and it tends to slip down.
  10. hey Paul, you were saying you couldn't find snap poppers long enough, how about cutting away a couple of layers of canvass that is behind the belt front. you would still have the seam all the way round but cut an oblong the length of the front part of the belt back to just one layer otherwise the belt may be too raised from the armour if you add a snap to ABS then add that to the belt. i'm not explaining very well am i?
