  1. Cut the eyes out of the bucket. I thought I was gonna be able to cut the frown as well with the Dremel bit I had bought, but I didn't feel comfortable with it after all. One slip and I could damage the helmet pretty good. I think I'll go ahead and get the recommended metal files for that. How do the eyes look? I feel like I got a little too carried away with the upper right corner on the right eye. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Glued my first piece tonight!! Things are starting to feel not so daunting haha. I glued one of the support strips for each bicep piece using that good ole E6000. I fitted the bicep and it looks like the standard 15mm cover strip will be just fine. From here on out I want to have something drying every 24 hours. I pre-cut the first cover strip piece. Mark put some great straight pieces in the kit to cut cover strips from, but something I found out is that they don't have a perfectly straight side. So before you measure and score your cover strips, make sure you're actually measuring from a truly straight edge. Also glued the drop boxes. Put a generous bead line of E6000 inside the bigger one and just dropped the smaller one inside (after trimming them, sanding them, and making sure they were nearly flush). 3. So I know this post hasn't been active recently, but dang this link is super useful! Thanks Mathias!
  4. Hey Bryce! I'll have to check out your build thread! And I like that drop box method, definitely gonna try that. And no I haven't come across the sniper knee issue, is there one? Maybe your build thread has it? Thanks for the heads up!
  5. Hey guys, I'm preparing the drop boxes. The CRL doesn't say too much about them and I've searched the forums pretty extensively, but is there a recommended thickness or depth that these should be? Also, is okay that the inner box pops out a bit or should it be flat with the out box? Also, the inner box has a lot of wiggle room, should it just sit center in the outer box? And then do I just glue them together? Thanks in advance!
  6. Biceps, forearms and shoulders are all trimmed. Pretty much done with all my preliminary trimming now. Time for fitting! Also trying to wrap my head around the snap system. Let me know if you guys see any hiccups in the trimming! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hey guys, another question. I wanted to get a Darman neck seal like I see a lot of people here have. I also found a really nice looking seal on Etsy that's made of faux leather here >> https://www.etsy.com/listing/512192901/star-wars-stormtrooper-neck-seal. I know the CRL doesn't say anything about the actual material it's made of. Thoughts?
  8. Hey Joseph, thanks so much for attaching that diagram! Mega helpful! For the snaps, do you just attached the snaps to a piece of ABS and then glue that with E6000 to the inside of the armor? Thank you for your help!
  9. Wow that's all super insightful thank you guys!! I think I might go with the snap system after all!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Cool thank you! I'm going to buy the strapping kit off of TrooperBay.com, that's the traditional correct? I was trying to get as close to the original as possible, but would you recommend a snap system? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. How does this button plate look guys? Feels a little too big to me. Take more off? Haven't glued it yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for the advice and encouragement guys! Kind of frustrated with this PhotoBucket fiasco. A lot of great builds/resources are pretty much useless now. Having to find builds with images hosted on other platforms. They are out there though!
  13. Alright guys, sorry for the lack of updates. Back at the trimming. Still pretty fresh into the process, but trucking along! I got three kids, so it can be difficult! I'm sure a lot of you know what's up lol. Had some time tonight, so turned on some Clone Wars and started cuttin away with the Lexan's. Anyway, check out these edges on the chest and back plates. How do they look? Thanks for the input!
  14. Let me know what you guys think of the first photo I posted if the kidney plate. How much of the side should I trim off? Does the bracket system I choose dictate that? Is there a set size that it should extent?
