  1. Ya, I think I had forgotten to paint the rivet heads on some of the leg parts. I'll go ahead and fix that up. Thanks everyone
  2. http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...hp?userID=10125 TK 5988 Please enable me.
  3. I am attempting to make my own with random parts, similar to Smitty's run a few months (years?) ago.
  4. It is an MRCE, i did try to fill some of the lines with sealant, added dark thick green lenses, and padding, thats about it. thanks everyone!
  5. I need to get a modeling iron,a nd then I can go ahead and trim both the front and the rear chest parts as recommended. I can go ahead and move up the drop boxes, that'll be a cinch. I can also easily suck in the back to front straps. Thanks for all the compliments
  6. Per my initial application, I was to add ab buttons, drop boxes, and finish my thermal detonator. I was also recommended by FISD to have also trimmed my forearms, biceps, and shoulder bells. I also heat gunned my shoulder bells to fit a bit tighter. I have since completed all of these steps. I have emailed who I need to, as to complete my application to the 501st. I will be attempting to go to Elite Standards of the FISD soon. I also have in the works my holster and blaster. Here are some pictures!
  7. I ended up not being able to find silly money clips, I didn't feel like ordering them. So i bought two letter openers, drilled them, riveted them, bent them into shape, and cut off the excess part. They look pretty sweet. I'll add some pictures when I get home.
  8. BTW - Here are some random build pictures... Prior to gluing the fronts of the leg pieces, foam! Helmet padding from an old motocross helmet - I was bored at work.. a TK styrofoam cup!
  9. First - thanks for the warm compliments and such Yes, the shoulder bells need some work... trimming and moving them forward, I totally agree. Its much different when actually looking at pictures vs a mirror. Chest & Back plate - do you think loosening & moving forward the top straps and tightening my side velcro straps would work better to get a tighter connection between my chest and back plate? Biceps - should they basically rest on the inside arm (opposite of my elbow) ? Buttons - Vader Dave's set... coming via mail as we speak Chest plate mod - yes I would like to do this, I just need to get a modeling iron.
  10. I've started my application process through 501st and the Georgia Garrison... I figured I would go ahead and start the application process, even though I have the following to take care of: Purchase Blaster Sew Holster Mount Drop Boxes Mount Vader Dave's button set Finish O2 Canister Trim Shoulder bells Thin forearms & biceps Here's some pictures, any other suggestions? Just Kidding!!
  11. So if the left side has rivets/snaps & elastic... what does the right side have?
  12. This helps tremendously, as now I have a plan of action. Measure twice, cut once... almost everything down to my size. Got it.
  13. I'm a fairly thin guy, and as it stands now, I have padded my armor to make it fit. I didnt know... should I trim it down, so it just fits?
  14. I'm going to start thinning out the armor, but should it be fairly form fitting, like very close, or sort of loose and then add padding inside?
  15. All comments are appreciated and welcome! Definitely measure twice, cut once. Most of what I have modified is fixable. Right now the suit is all done in velcro, I haven't plastic welded anything besides the buttons for the webbing. I believe I will wear the leather part underneath my jumpsuit next time so it doesn't jump out like that again.
  16. Here are a few more pictures: Changes Made: Thighs trimmed Shoulder bells completed Neck trim done Ab/Butt piece lowered Belt 50% complete Changes Needed: Shorten ab to thigh webbing. Add knee parts Complete belt Add ab buttons Finish o2 canister I also realize some of the poses make the shoulder bells look off, though I don't believe they are. Also I think the position of the butt piece is too low, and the ab piece might be too high. How's everything looking otherwise?
  17. I use a bench grinder to cut my parts down to size One of these: ----- I tape lines, and then cut with the stone wheel. It works pretty well.
  18. I figured a fair amount of work needed to be done to get everything completed. I'm feel pretty proud putting it all together mostly myself, and am happy the way its going. This is my first attempt at doing something of this nature, and I haven't screwed it up yet, so its going well.
  19. I've finished the shoulder bells, trimmed the thighs and lowered the ab/butt piece. I'll be finishing the belt tomorrow, and get some pictures posted. All in all it's turning out a lot better, thanks everyone for the tips. I'll keep everyone updated.
  20. That's what I was thinking too. I have it just about touching my under carriage. Does it supposed to hang down a bit from there?
  21. Here's a test run of fitting most of my armor: I think the ab/butt piece needs to be moved down a bit, which in turn I will need to shorten the thigh webbing. I think the thighs need to be trimmed a bit more as well. I have webbing between the ab crotch and butt part, but how close are they supposed to be to your naughty bits down there? Obviously the parts missing are: 1. Shoulder bells (with the webbing I still need to make, will also hold up the biceps better) 2. Belt + it's accessories 3. Helmet (I have this, but needed it off to help my picture taker to operate my camera 4. Ab buttons (waiting on VaderDaves to come in the mail) 5. Knee parts 6. Neck Seal (In the process of sewing one) How do I make the ab/cod piece a bit thinner to tuck around me? I think what I have concluded is: 1. Add elastic to the chest/back piece sides. 2. Have the belt on, as this should tuck some of the sides in 3. Possibly trim the ab piece a bit thinner on the sides? What would you recommend?
