I an working on my FOTK and since I'm 6'2", looks like my shins are a bit shorter than they need to be. Was looking through the forums to find solutions for extending them, but haven't found much.
I was thinking of splitting them about 1/3 of the way up and applying thin ABS to the interior with about a 1"-1.5" gap that I would then bondo to a smooth transition. Any thoughts on this?

I was asked question about how my beak sits on the bucket and how I secured it. As you can see in the kit picture earlier, I put small crosses on the back of the beak to align it to the bucket.
I applied 5 min epoxy liberally to the back of tbe beak then aligned it and taped it down until it cured.
You can see how my beak sits relative to the visor.
The beak sits relatively flush with the mesh near the tear drops. Although I do have more of a gap on my right side.
Where there should be space is under the front of the beak. Take a look at the pics from celebration and you'll see the same space. It's hard to tell in this pic.

Welcome aboard! I was born and raised in Great Falls, but also lived in Kalispell. Now I'm in Florida Garrison territory! Lots of great resources here! Good luck!

I'll post progress photos soon, but if I didn't have your highly detailed tutorial, I'd be screwed! So thanks!Check that out, very nice job

Haven't done an update in a while, but my FN (or TK as we call it here ) continues to come together. Got this before Christmas!
Then this after the new year!
And then these arrived yesterday!
Hope to have everything assembled in Feb! And before you bombard me with requests for these items, check out the "First Order Stormtrooper Resource Guide" on the forum for where I got most of this stuff.

Welcome fellow Central Floridian! Good luck with your build and I'm happy to offer any help that I can!

Tony, for the two belt boxes that you used the rubber material, I ordered the material you hyperlinked in the materials list. It seems thinner than your pictures appear and it is very soft. It's hard to tell from your photos, but was the material you used a more rigid material? I'm guessing from your photos that the assembled box is roughly 30mm deep? Would that be about right?
-
One more question, how thick is the material that was provided for creating the cover strips?
-
Just want to make sure I've got this right. The forearm boxes are actually 16mm deep, not 11, correct?Forearm boxes were trimmed down to 11mm in depth. This will be mentioned more in the build portion also.

Awesome!!! I'm dying for a tutorial on your cape!

May be old news, but saw this at Disney today. Rank and color

It would probably make sense to change the initials. Maybe First Assembly of Radical Tyrants or something more generic like that to accommodate everyone.
That's a FART joke!

i guess the chrome will do that! Dang! I need another job!In fact I may be willing to suggest that it may reach Fett or Vader levels of budget. The caroming process is not easy nor cheap unless you already have access to some of the tools necessary.

Clint's point is well put and I agree with Cody's position! As a new FOTK, I would love to be able to recognized as FN-33724, noting that I am new to this organization, and as an homage to The Force Awakens. From a Legion perspective, It makes sense that my costume will be a TK, per Clint's argument, but as Cody points out, I reserve the right to refer to myself during troops as FN-33724.
I would think that should be an acceptable compromise. My costume is a TK, but my name is FN. thoughts?

I think the Imperial Gunnery Corps does a very similar thing. I like the idea. As a new guy, if I had to dig through 7 different CRLs to figure out which I wanted to build, only to learn the accessories are different, i think I might be deterred from pursuing it.

I think the Pauldron item was an oops or the flipped the image, because the TD was mirrored as well!

Are you looking at £500 ($750) for everything? If so then buying the pieces is not going to be your best approach! There are some good buckets out there selling in the $200-$250 range, gaskets will run $300 (unless you go cloth which is $125), boots and gloves are roughly $170, armor is $800+. That being said, if you find a kit (that is 501st approval) for under $750, let me know, cause I'm in!
You're better bet is to pep it, there are some good files on the forums now (may check theRPF as well). It will definitely require a ton more work, but will keep your costs much lower (cardstock, superglue, resin and bondo are pretty cheap)! Good luck!

TK338 reported in during a scene! I heard it as well!

HOWTO: Imperial Gasket tutorial
in TFA Stormtrooper

Any tips on how folks "sized" their gaskets for trimming? I was thinking of measuring circumference around my arm at several points and then adding 1-2". I would then measure half of that measurement from center. I'm petrified of screwing this up and can't get myself to make progress! I just need to jump in and do it!
