  1. Any tips on how folks "sized" their gaskets for trimming? I was thinking of measuring circumference around my arm at several points and then adding 1-2". I would then measure half of that measurement from center. I'm petrified of screwing this up and can't get myself to make progress! I just need to jump in and do it!

  2. I an working on my FOTK and since I'm 6'2", looks like my shins are a bit shorter than they need to be. Was looking through the forums to find solutions for extending them, but haven't found much.

I was thinking of splitting them about 1/3 of the way up and applying thin ABS to the interior with about a 1"-1.5" gap that I would then bondo to a smooth transition. Any thoughts on this?

  3. I was asked question about how my beak sits on the bucket and how I secured it. As you can see in the kit picture earlier, I put small crosses on the back of the beak to align it to the bucket.

I applied 5 min epoxy liberally to the back of tbe beak then aligned it and taped it down until it cured.

You can see how my beak sits relative to the visor.

The beak sits relatively flush with the mesh near the tear drops. Although I do have more of a gap on my right side.

Where there should be space is under the front of the beak. Take a look at the pics from celebration and you'll see the same space. It's hard to tell in this pic.

Hope to have everything assembled in Feb! And before you bombard me with requests for these items, check out the "First Order Stormtrooper Resource Guide" on the forum for where I got most of this stuff.

  5. Tony, for the two belt boxes that you used the rubber material, I ordered the material you hyperlinked in the materials list. It seems thinner than your pictures appear and it is very soft. It's hard to tell from your photos, but was the material you used a more rigid material? I'm guessing from your photos that the assembled box is roughly 30mm deep? Would that be about right?

  6. Clint's point is well put and I agree with Cody's position! As a new FOTK, I would love to be able to recognized as FN-33724, noting that I am new to this organization, and as an homage to The Force Awakens. From a Legion perspective, It makes sense that my costume will be a TK, per Clint's argument, but as Cody points out, I reserve the right to refer to myself during troops as FN-33724.

I would think that should be an acceptable compromise. My costume is a TK, but my name is FN. thoughts?

  7. Are you looking at £500 ($750) for everything? If so then buying the pieces is not going to be your best approach! There are some good buckets out there selling in the $200-$250 range, gaskets will run $300 (unless you go cloth which is $125), boots and gloves are roughly $170, armor is $800+. That being said, if you find a kit (that is 501st approval) for under $750, let me know, cause I'm in!

You're better bet is to pep it, there are some good files on the forums now (may check theRPF as well). It will definitely require a ton more work, but will keep your costs much lower (cardstock, superglue, resin and bondo are pretty cheap)! Good luck!
