1. no, it was a "free gift with purchase" ha ha
2. thanks Evan! I had to Desktop view from my phone...
3. my build thus far. will be working on the scope, scope rail, power cylinders and counter (coming soon!) first up, TJay's completion kit!
4. I agree with the dry brush technique. a stiff bristle brush works best. start with a dab if paint and take it to a dry rag til almost all of the paint is gone, and just brush over the edges in a back n forth motion. it's easier to build up the color than to take it off. just my two cents
5. I got a few small wood blocks from Michaels, a little cutting and sanding and my sight looks good
6. ok, so I've been off and running with my blaster build, but stuck in a few places. here goes:

front sight dimensions: US standard. I've downloaded the sterling pdf provided but I can't decipher the ".02375, etc." I've got a ruler. lol. any way to translate these specs? I am having to build mine from scratch.

folding stock detail: looking for metal pieces, rivets, etc to go into the holes to clean up the piece..I'm referring to the holes/pins on the sides where the folding stock would actually "fold". where would I find these? in addition, rear sight pins, rivets, these random pieces I'm having trouble finding suitable replacement pieces.

any help to replicate these would be greatly appreciated!
7. dumb question, why not just paint over the decals if going for that "hand-painted" look?
8. I bought black and painted white. Bass Amsterdam boots. incredibly comfortable, easy to paint. took about 7 coats, and two coats of the sealant to prevent it from chipping. not sure how they'll hold up over time, but I guess we'll see! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
9. good points guys, thanks for the input! definitely makes sense considering how much time, effort, and money is put into a costume just to have a few inconsiderate people ruin your armor, even by accident...
10. Hey everyone! I'm looking forward to completing my armor and becoming a member. I'm also looking forward to doing charity events, marches, etc. I've voiced my excitement to friends and family, and they're already asking me to dress up for events that aren't "official" or in a 501st setting such as birthdays, other charity events. Would I have to consult with my garrison leader, or would it be ok if I do these events by myself? considering of course I'd still be adhering to the code of conduct that's expected? I couldn't find any topics on the matter. thanks for your help!
