  1. Thank you for the merge, I wasn't sure of the best way to continue the thread. timmer
  2. Additional photos that were requested are in the next thread on the Elite Menu. Timmer
  3. As requested, here are the additional photos of my AP helmet. Oddly enough, my tube stripes do look different than Mike's. (Actually they're his...I just may have put them on wrong, I had no idea there were "sides" ! Let me know if I need to redo them. I have a light in my helmet to show the green (Smitty's lenses!) Stomper's Hovi's. Action poses as well. Thanks everyone! Timmer
  4. Thanks everyone, I'll get some bucket pics up soon. I'll probably do the chest mod down the road as well, it's a good suggestion. I'll also look at my blaster a bit closer, when I put it together, it seemed like I got the pieces to fit where they fit best, but I could be wrong. Thanks again, Timmer
  5. Thanks Aaron! I keep tweaking my armor. I have an FX kit with an AP helmet. I still don't like the way my arms fit as far as being able to de-bucket. I can reach, but it's tough. I need to trim my biceps and then raise them up a bit higher. Every time I make an adjustment, my armor is more and more comfortable. I've also been losing some weight, so I can tighten up my side shims that connect my kidney and ab piece. Take your time, and measure everything. When I was trimming my shin length (so I could walk somewhat normally) I measured the longest distance on the front, back, and each side of both shins to make sure they were close to being equal. Then I penciled in a line freehand of how I thought it should look and be comfy. Then I dremel cut it, dremel sanded it, then rough sand paper and then fine sand paper. I could still take a bit more off as I have short legs! Good luck, If you need help let me know, Timmer quote name='synaptyx' date='Jan 5 2009, 01:52 PM' post='73318'] My left shim is massive, but it will have to do 'til I lose more weight. <_<
  6. Here are my 501st submission pics. If I need more work done, or different pics, let me know. ANH Stunt. AP bucket, FX armor, CA boots, Bernard holster, firebladejedi canvas belt, stomper hovi's, flat green lenses, hasbro with resin parts added, split kidney/butt, side shims added because I'm not skinny... vaderdave ab buttons, TK 4510 decals. Thanks for your consideration. Tim
  7. Here are my recent pics, showing that a heavier set guy can troop! Actually TK 9069 was normally posted as security at one of the Death Star's many cafeterias.
  8. TK 9069 requesting status change. Now a member of the 501st!!! http://www.501stlegion.org/members/searchresults.php
  9. Thanks for the tips everyone. I have beefy thighs, so I've been trying trying to find a happy medium between getting them high enough, but also having them look tight enough to avoid that nasty flare at the bottom of the thigh, especially on the left leg. I think the reason for the low ab/ high chest issue was that I recently put snaps on the elastic going from thigh to lower ab. It was pulling down too much which affected everything else. Well today I'll be in the dungeon trimming and adjusting!!! Thanks again, Tim
  10. My "dressing assistant" for that day didn't know the finer points of the armor so things I am picky about (like the belt) squeak by. I do have elastic going from the lower chest to the lower back but I believe it's Jabba-esque physique which makes it stick out. I've actually lost about 8-10 pounds in the past 3 weeks, so I'm trying to keep that pace and eventually I will fit into the armor a lot better. Thank you all for the pointers. Tim
  11. Thanks for the advice, there are more pics in the gallery section under "Tim's FX/AP"
  12. Hi everyone, I finished my armor last week and did some Halloween parades and such. These pics are from Halloween night, trick or treating with my 4 year old clone trooper nephew. I realize that you can see my suspender clips, it's due to a thigh mod pulling my ab down too much. I'm fixing that this weekend. I'm a heavyset guy, so I'm concerned about my side pieces. Any suggestions to improving the armor would be greatly appreciated. I was aiming for an ANH stunt trooper. I've got Smitty's green lenses, VaderDave's buttons, Bernard's belt, and I'm working on installing Stomper's Hovi's. It's an FX kit with an AP bucket. Thank you to all who helped with this!!! Hopefully the pics will load Thank you, Tim
  13. Mark, glad to hear that you are ok after that experience. I'm 41, and like a lot of other guys have said, it is a wake up call. I'm 230 and should probably be 190, so I'm definitely changing my habits and going to start losing weight. My thanks to you for possibly saving me from such a scare. (And as a newbie just building my first set of armor, I will no doubt look better in it!!) Thanks for the kick in the backside, I needed it Take care, Tim
  14. In the original post it states: "An ANH Hero Stormtroopers should have:" I just wanted to get confirmation that "Hero" was just a typo, and should read "Stunt", as these are requirements for a an ANH Stunt Thanks for any clarification. Tim
  15. Thank you so much for the advice everyone, it's really appreciated!
  16. Hi everyone, I just received my FX Armor kit today and I'm waiting for my AP bucket. In the meantime I'm still researching the most popular, most efficient ways of doing things with the armor. When it comes to paints, I have found the info on Humbrol paints, but I'm not sure where to find them in the U.S. I'm surrounded by Home Depot's, Lowe's and Walmart's. Most hobby shops that I knew of around here are gone. I would appreciate any info on stores that carry Humbrol, and/or what other paints are acceptable when it comes to bucket painting as opposed to using decals. My apologies if there's a big juicy thread out there with all of this info already. I looked, but couldn't quite find what I needed. Thanks everybody, Tim
  17. I was in WallyWorld today picking up my Hasbro E11, $5.95 voice changer (it really does work!), dremel, and various building supplies (yes, I'm a noobie). I went over to the clothing section to see if they updated their own line of under armor and they had. Being a rather stout lad, I chose the XL top and 2X bottoms, each were just under $12. I look absolutely ridiculous and pudgy in it, but it fits...and is sort of comfortable in a strange and creepy way. But it was really cheap an it will work. Also, if by any chance the top rides up on me ( it's happened to me before as I wear this stuff while snowmobiling) I can put velcro on the bottom of the shirt and "anti-velcro" at the top of the pants. That should keep them together I would think. I can aslo wear it under clothes to get to the events. My work here is finished.
  18. I appreciate Derek, thank you. I've decided to hold off on mysound sytem for now, just found out my armor is shipping!
  19. Thank you Ironclaw, I appreciate the info.
  20. Hi everyone. I've been researching voice options recently and I could have sworn I got to the ROM FX site a week ago or so. I tried last night and this morning and I reach a page telling me that I can't find the site on that server. Is there an alternate way to reach them, get info? Thanks for any help.
  21. Just wondering (as a newbie) if I were to buy a brand new FX kit (yeah, I know) would the helmet in that kit be acceptable? I know that they are bobble headed, but are they different from what was referred to as a "classic" FX helmet? Thank you to all those who contribute to these forums, they have helped me immensely.
