  1. let me know how this goes, and send pics, i'm two inches shorter then you and just looking my thigh goes past my knee, maybe copy Dianas thread on them?
  2. Just starting to trim parts of my armor and i'm outright embarrassed how bad i am compared to you! i'm terrible at all this measuring let my impatience rush me. i'll try to keep using this thread as a reference but please give me advice anytime! Also remind me to copy your GOOP bond, love the idea and i'm sure i'll need it.
  3. So after a very busy work week i finally had a day to work on some pieces. i trimmed the forarms and biceps. and i think i'll need a second option on the sizes in person but for now they seem ok, i've only masking taped them so far as i want to make sure before i place the cover strips and again its probably to early for these kinds of test fitting but i cant resist myself. so far its more restricting then expected but i think more trimming might be needed, i'm hoping to go to the hobby store tommorow to get some elastic and webbing. i know due to my trimming of the chest i cant do the bracket stratagy, i also think i'll have to shave some off the back kidney.
  4. i'm starting to work on the forearms now, is there really any guide for those? all i've done so far is just shave off alot of excess plastic, i'm scared to go to far and aligning them is harder then i thought never noticed the sides went to far i hope this isnt starting to look like spam, while unlikely, i'd love to finish my armor in time for TFA, finally got tickets for the 17th!
  5. After going through AsBlondeasLukes thread for the 5th time since i've bought the armor a year ago, i decided to copy her idea of shortening the chest plate, i'll miss that return edge but sacrifices have to be made, i think it looks alot more natural now. I also removed the return edge on the top of the stomach plate, i'm fat enough i dont need it pushing out further.
  6. So while i'm waiting on snaps and velcro/elastic all i can really do at the moment is trim access plastic and do some test fits. I figure i try and deal with the elephant in the room. due to my height the chest and stomach/codpeice dont have enough room it can go a little lower then the pic shows but i didnt have anything to hold it, while i imagine if i go to low it will bump the thigh pieces. should i try and trim the chest, stomach or both? the issue is i've never done anything of this grade of trimming and i don't really have any help on it besides you guys. possibly cut the cod part off and slide it up?
  7. on to where i've started, i've taken the chest piece, straps and back and started to cut off the excess plastic. i'm worried as to how far to go as i've seen some armors have the curves and some more flat. and i was hoping to just wake up shave these down and glue the pieces together but i'm unsure and i've never messed with snaps or where to start.
  8. Hello, I'm Comfy/Shortest Stormy. and this is my first TK/costume of any kind build. there will be blood and tears. so please help me minimize it! So i'll come out and say i have some hard core ADD, probably other things too but i'm to cheap to go to a doctor, i'll try to go slow with this build as i cant really afford another anytime soon. and of course a bigger challenge on top of that is only 5'4 tall, so i'm already seeing pieces that will need trimming down, once i figure how to do that properly, and my helmet feels like a bobble head but what can i do eh?
  9. good eye noticing that, yeah i should, but i dont have much that can really get though the alu, the current holes i got i drilled at max speed with my dremel and by the time i was done i thought the thing was going to catch fire, so i'll definitely give it a try if i feel it getting loose
  10. After finally getting a day off, and a heat gun later i finally finished and am happy with the result the T-tracks were a mess orginally but after breaking down and getting a cheap heat gun it quickly fixed the issues, definitely worth. i had to sand down the excess tape stuck to the broken stock area, its seems good enough. though i wouldn't be surprised if it broke if i dropped it, so i'll try and take good care. please continue to help me as next time i finally start my armor!
  11. Long delay, finally back from vacation and hoping to get some progress! heres my build as of the first of October, mostly finished except i need to install the magazine, a coil i bent to go inside the pipe but will wait till after final painting with the bolts, and the pivot replacement i'm waiting for. hopfully its just a attach and glue. i've added the t-tracks, unfortunately rather unevenly. anyone know any way to maybe fix those? I wanted to ask do you guys sand down the magazine a bit or just install it as is? it seems rather long but i wanted to ask you guys. before i added the stock i noticed it was possibly warped or curved someway but then i tried to fix it and tragety struck Any chance i can glue those back? i dont want to do it now since it will probably bend when i try to put the pivot into place.
  12. Hey i'm just at the beginning of my ATA building, but my family is planned a group trip to Myrtle beach next weekend, and i figured i'd bring my already finished helmet for fun and maybe a few funny pictures. but i figure i should ask ahead. is there anything i should know to prevent damage? i dont have any electronics in the helmet yet so i'll probably melt inside it but i was worried getting in the water with it could damage the plastic or run the paint.
  13. How did people get coupons? I never got one with my TK preorder. But they are expired now? Id definitely grab a TIE or TFA helm if I had one.
  14. now i just feel lazy for gluing my trigger in.
  15. Same, people cant pull the short joke on a Pilot, plus if i wear my TK i could just say i flunked out of flight school.
  16. Any TIE pilots seen there Anovos set? i'll admit i'm tempted because i hear the wait time on TIE armor is longer then TK. but the price has me unsure. sorry if this isnt the right place to post about it, i didnt see anything about it on jollyroger
  17. Time for a late night update. So i've cut the rail scope, attached the scope and the counter box to them, and some more light painting that i'll probly redo later. some issues that i've notice though was i cut the front bit that goes inside a bit to small so it wiggles. i added some E6000 to hold it in but i'm hoping as a repaint that it wont be that noticeable, i also had serious issues getting the counter box to stick to the attachment piece, so i added some regular super glue along with the E6000, its more noticeable then i'd like but no one would notice it from afar. also added the power cylinder, but forgot to add the end, hopfully theres enough room. again some E6000 showing because it slid as i tried to lay it down to dry. so issues aside though i felt although i overcame the greatest threat to me, cutting metal, even it was aluminum it was my first time. i'd like to move on to the folding stock, but as i took account of my remaining pieces last night i couldnt find the pivot anywhere! i'm hoping it will turn up soon or this could delay my build atleast a month with my vacation coming up.
  18. The time has come, both my E-11 from the great D-Day and my ATA supplied Armor has arrived, i've decided to finish the blaster before i move on to the monster task of the armor. but wait a minute, I'm terrible with crafts and projects like this! so sadly this one be one of those awe inspiring threads where you learn how to do it right. This thread is to stop me from ruining a perfectly good E-11 Kit, Your my only hope! I've been messing with it barely after work for a few days but this is my first real day off to work on it Here was my unboxing to make sure everything was alrighht, the folding stock is a little bend but nothing serious, i went ahead and painted the pipe black, i'm sure i'll have to repaint it or touch up some spots later. So we skip to today and a few things and been done. I've attached the magazine and the grip, painted the inner tube gun metal, but left the plug black. most recently i just plugged int the front of the blaster and the sights. Other Side Up Front I used E6000 for the first time today, when setting up the iron sights the tip broke off so i tried to glue it back on but its leaning a bit. the seal cap broke so used more then i expected. i'm waiting for it to seal completely before i try to remove some of the excess, any tips for that? my next big challenge i want to overcome is the metal bar for the scope stock, but i've never cut metal before, i hope my dremel can cut it!
  19. really jealous, mine came out a disaster compared to that masterpiece. you should take assembly commissions
  20. Ready for a horror show? also known as my first attempt at painting the details Front shot, not to noticable, but since the old flat grey had been on the teeth so long i couldnt really get it off so i just painted the gloss gray on top my biggest issue seems to be my not so steady hand front a distance i dont think most will notice or care but the back ones are pretty bad imo, and i did this 2 days ago so they've already dried in, though hopfully mineral spirits can save me again. maybe i should just buy those Dave M decals
  21. hey i'm new to painting stuff in general but lately i've heard all sorts of stuff like enamel is toxic, which i used Testors enamel to paint the inside of my helmet. is this a reason to be worryed? also for those who have painted your helmet, is there anything you can do to get the paint smell out later?
  22. @Airborne yeah i'm addicted to mineral spirits thinner after it saved me a few times from my own horrible painting, and i'll probly only take a little off the back at a time but i scratch my ear taking it off even screw style. @illusiuonz i might cut a bit more but i'll probly always stay a little "twinkied", and yeah i'll buy like 2 bottles of the proper grey and as i hear in the model world "THIN YOUR PAINTS!" As for the decals yeah i'll probly give them try as worst case scenario i just buy the Dave M and cover them. the ears i might start the second set but definitly see if i can perfect the first.
  23. As a person who fiddles with models i'm going to try to get better pictures of the problem areas i've noticed. its kinda hard to show sadly since all i have is my phone cam, any advice on how to fix them would be highly appreciated, i'm tempted to order a new set of decals and redo the stripes, but i would atleast perfer to get the shine back in a part of the face that got damaged by acetone nailpolish i tried to clean. Here is the biggest offender to me, when i applied the decal i knew it was off but by the time i tried to remove it some of the lines already stuck so it was either this or nothing. heres as close as i can get to show the spot, notice the areas not reflecting. i heard Novus polish could fix it? another damaged shot, these two also show how bad i am at applying paint layers. Here is the Vocom orginally it was a complete mess but i cleaned it up with mineral spirits, should i add/substract more though? and here is the bottom of the helmet, but i've noticed some people take off alot of the back cap but what a good spot to leave? i am also terrible at trying to get the bottom trim to even stay on but i'll wait till everythings done before applying it. sorry for pretty much begging for answers but i cant really stop thinking about the issues (even at work ) i figured i'd make a order for padding and velcro, gloss white/grey and the polish, anything else i should get to fix it up? i'll wait for electronics for the helmet til the day i begin trooping.
  24. I'm calling this completed helmet Alpha because there is still alot to do with it, along with losing one of the side bolts and some half awake choices. the ear painting is sloppy but i fully plan to replace them with the other ears over time. Right Back Left Any noticeable things that i need to fix besides the ears? i dont expect to be Centurion with my skill but i may aswell dream big. i also plan to replace the flat grey teeth with the proper grey next week and add mesh to the teeth, maybe buy a second set of decals? these were Scott M i bought a long time ago, but didnt know about Dave Ms at the time.
  25. of course i couldnt find that when i was at the paint store, i used testors 1163 flat maybe i can just polish it later
