  1. I went a little snap crazy and have to pull that snap out of the cod ... should be a split rivet. duh!

  3. I've got to make a pile of snap plates and I have started laying out my holes etc for the belt. That should come together quick. The belt, that is.
  4. My shim material is twice as thick as the kidney material, so I've have to gather some scraps together to build some build-out blocks for when I join the shim to the kidney. I want the outside surface to be flush when glued.
  5. Put the body armor on after sanding and straightening it to measure for shims. I need a 3.3cm shim on each side. Yes .... the metric system!
  6. Thanks. I've been trying to make everything fit and look as best as I can make it, without making this a profession. I'm 5'11" 185lbs 33" waist.
  7. I think I have enough play in the ammo pack & velcro to make that happen. I'd hate to drill another hole! Thanks for the critique though!
  8. BTW, I ended up resetting the one side of the knee plate. I'll see how it looks tomorrow when the E6000 is ready.
  9. Thanks Starrfox1. I did order the trimmed kit to get me going quickly. The helmet came trimmed along with the rest of the kit. Everything needs fitting and trimming to size/fit along with lots of sanding for clean/smooth edges. But that goes for any kit. All those model kits as a kid payed of when painting this thing.
  10. Knee Plate without clamps. Looks ... OK. I may pull it apart. What do you think?
  11. Took the heat gun to the AP Sniper Knee Plate. It was looking ugly to fit, but I think I made the best of it. We'll see when the E6000 Dries. Hopefully I put enough!
  12. You can cut the cut where the 2 parts meet and then rub the rest of the glue off with your thumb. I just went through this step myself and found that gluing the two halfs (with the inner strip) together all at once worked well, and avoided lots of clean up. Check my build thread for a couple pics. My 2 cents.
  13. A bit of both. At the top of the shin, the sides have a strong return edge, the back never had one, and the front was inconsistent from one half to the other (one had a very small return and the other was trimmed right down). I trimmed the one side to make them match.
  14. Thermal Detonator painted and assembled. It may not pass for level 3 501st approval due to the placement of the clips. Centurion should still be attainable.
