  1. I have tons of snaps which work perfect for that spot. pM me if u need
  2. Good luck with your build! Just finished my AM kit and got approved recently. Take your time with the forearms - they're super tricky since they don't have the built in ridge for the strips. stock up on rare earth magnets - theyll save ur life.
  3. Hey George, Good work so far with ur bucket, it can be tricky! Just a note, if your going for Hero, you may have cut out too many teeth - I believe hero helmets should have 6 holes (looks like you have 8)? You may want to double check the CRL as im not 100% sure on this, but i believe 6 holes for Hero. Here are some reference photos: https://www.google.com/search?q=hero+stormtrooper+helmet&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=L0HtVIaHD8aoogT094LQBA&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1440&bih=779 For paint removal and to clean up edges, use a toothpick dipped in some rubbing alcohol I just finished my AM kit, so feel free to DM me if u have any questions! Best of luck!
  4. TK 52415 reporting for duty!! Ready to serve my empire, and maybe hit a few things with my blaster along the way
  5. TK 52415 requesting 501st access. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=18197
  6. I've been approved!!! now I just need to wait for elections to end to get my TK ID!
  7. I apologize for not updating my thread, but my build did go on and I have submitted for 501st basic approval. I found a lot of help from a facebook group specifically for my local garrison. Here are my submission photos..
  8. My last 2 posts haven't gotten any replies. Any feedback on trimming the body pieces would be appreciate.
  9. Been awhile since I updated my thread, but I've made some decent progress. Arms are almost completely done, just waiting to strap them up until I finish everything else. Legs are all cut (shins complete), strips have ben cut - just waiting for an armor party in december for some feedback before I proceed with some stuff. Trying to prep as much as I can so I can go and get some insight from fellow troopers in person. I want to keep going on trimming down the body pieces, but any feedback would be nice. Im a pretty skinny guy and I have been having to trim a ton off my AM kit. Here are some photos.. I trimmed the top chest and back plates down to a size I feel fits me well, just need to get the kidney plate, butt plate, and ab plate trimmed down. If anyone has any suggestions on how to trim to size, I'd really appreciate it. What return edges stay? which ones have to go? Should I split the ab plate in 2? I also primed the inside of my bucket
  10. Hey! Finally getting around to updating this. Feeling like im making some decent strides considering my work schedule. Went to Comikaze this weekend; saw and met some 501st people in person which totally rejuvenated me to get my build on! Only thing thats slowing me down is limited work space, clamps/magnets, and time after work. Here are some photos of my progress: Finished Biceps and Forearms just need to glue backside of 1 forearm: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/Adam_Friedlander/image2_zpsc414e430.jpg Shins trimmed and taped, Im gluing the front strips cuz it has to be a certain size, which I feel will help me get an idea if I need to trim more off the back Im skinny, but I have pretty big calves so Im starting with extra meat and gunna trim down from there: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/Adam_Friedlander/image3_zpsd2a7f7b7.jpg Just finished trimming the thighs and as I was doing it, I realized Im feeling more and more confident in what im doing as I go along. Feeling good about the thigh size. Thought this would be difficult but it was pretty easy http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/Adam_Friedlander/image1_zps22646883.jpg I welcome any feedback! Thanks!
  11. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the feedback. After trying on the biceps more i decided to re-trim them and i feel they came out perfect! not too lose with a lil breathing room and nothing poking me. I know I should be trying it on with the underarmor, but I havent found a good one yet, so I just used a really thick baseball tee for a gauge. I trimmed up the forearms as well, but I wanted to get some feedback before gluing anything this time, redoing those biceps was not fun. (I did do a little gluing. In the photo my right front bicep is glued, and so is the back left.) They are falling down a bit in the pic cuz they're not all strapped up (and could use a little padding inside to keep em centered) but it seems like itll be good when they are. I have a good range of movement with my arms. Any feed back would be appreciated Sorry if the photo is all small. im having trouble with the photo loader too haha
  12. Hey Guys, I got my finally got my kit! I have loved Star Wars since I was a little kid and cant wait to become part of the 501st family. Opened it up, sorted all the parts (which that in itself is a chore), and wanted to curl up into a ball on the floor. I could really use some help with this whole process. I have read a ton of threads, viewed a lot of references, and feel like I know what I need to do; but its my first time taking on a project like this and I dont really want to screw it up. I started on the biceps like most ppl had recommended. Here are some photos Theyre both pretty even, just super loose. I'm not sure how a good fit is supposed to fit? I'm a skinny guy, 5'11, 150lbs.. and I dont want it to look super big or super tight, just screen accurate. I also started trimming the forearms, but want to square away the biceps before I do anything. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  13. if you could PM me the information also. I just got my kit from troopergear yesterday. im 5'11 about 150 lb, it seems a bit big, but trimming it down shouldnt be too difficult. From what I read, always trim as little as possible, then a bit more if needed, never cut too much. I held the helmet together with ears and i see what you are saying about the ears. Its not a perfect fit, but should still work with the lil bolts holding it in place Thanks!
  14. Hey Erick, Hope the build is going well. I just got my kit yesterday from Trooper Gear also and unpacked everything.. a bit overwhelming. I watched almost all the TrooperBay videos and a bunch of threads, and feel like I have a solid idea of what I need to do, but since you have the same kit, I was hoping you could give me some advice? How did it go for you so far? Im also a skinny guy and the thighs and arms feel huge. Any trimming suggestions? Any help you could provide would be awesome great! Thanks!
