  1. Steve, just one question: The improvement of the weathering was just a suggestion, right? The armor could go for Centurion as it is, I suppose ... I'd do the improvements but the longer I look at this pic the more I find it personally all right. Yes, the pic was "slightly paintshopped", but anyway! ... I know your point of view but what do you think about my sudden doubts? Also sudden Update: I finally came to the conclusion to give it a try and while I was doing some damages I thought that it was good. Here's my first attempt with a slight weathering which is not finalized, yet ... I only added damages to the areas which are not or just slightly weathered ... How about this ?
  2. Congratulations !!! You made it into the Expert Infantry ranks Looking forward for your Centurion application
  3. Hi Tony and welcome to the ranks !!! Awesome ATA-Build
  4. Thank you all for the congratulations and the tips about the further weathering !!! It's not that hard to build an INC, Tim. The Helmet is ANH but the ROTJ armor from CfO is much easier to handle than ANH/ESB only the painting and weathering is a little bit cumbersome... Whenever you got questions: Feel free to ask
  5. Hi Steve, hi Mark, thanks for the tips! I'll be very careful with the sandpaper and will take my time for this final step. Good things have to take their time. I also want to do some additional research before I start. I'd like to post the progress of this rework in here. I think this would be the right place ... so stay tuned
  6. Thank you for the tip using sandpaper I already tried very fine graining before weathering but wasn't that successful. I didn't want to go coarser in order not to make any deep scratches ... I found something like sandblasting but using dry ice. There's a company close to where I live. I'm going to ask them if they can remove this very, very sticky paint from the ABS in order to get the weathering I need ... hope that won't cost that much. As for the pics: No problem! Hope they'll help
  7. Hello Steve, thank you so much for your quick and absolutely positive response What should I say? ... I did it, again ... ... and it cements my attitued to this: Stormtrooper once and forever I'm so glad that all the details are all right. But balancing the weathering as suggested lets me get enormous headaches because the complete armor is finalized with clear varnishand the red paint sticks to the plastic like pitch. At frist look I'd say I have to break this up completely and do an overall rework in order to meet this need and get a more balanced look to finally get the armor properly Centurion certified. @all: Could somebody give me hints on how to achieve a kind of red-part-weahtering as shown above, but a little bit slighter? My skills in painting and stuff like that are very, very limited especially when it comes down to weathering ...
  8. Hi Matt, also a warm welcome from me, my first suggestion would be to start over with the costume reference library (CRL). The forum's homepage provides links to the particular Stormtrooper armor on the left side ("Film Canon CRLs" and "Expanded Universe CRLs"). Find the Stormtrooper armor you'd like to build. When done and as Tim pointed out: Refer to the "Advanced Tactics" section and get familiar with one of your favourite armor. All Expert Infantrymen or Centurion armors in here fulfill a) the 501st standard and the accuracy grade "Expert Infantry" or c) even "Centurion" grade, the 'ultimate' accuracy grade of a Stormtrooper armor as declared in the CRLs. A special section in our forum refers to build threads of many menbers. In here you'll find some very good descriptions on how to build a particular armor the right way or see solutions to special problems ... But: Feel free to ask !!! This will prevent going the wrong way in this somehow "special" hobby
  9. Hi Hideki, this is another great TM build - snap-strapped as I like it For the TD you'll make it more accurate if you align the edge of the Metal to the edge of the white plastic part. I made the same mistake before Look at this: (before/after) There's also an epic discussion on how to position the ammo pack to the thigh ... I pretend, the most accurate way is like so ... ... but I think your positioning is also correct ... @all: Please correct me if I'm wrong here ... Life's an eternal learning process So: Good Luck, Hideki !!!
  10. Yeah, it was about time, Steve. I waited more than four months for 501st approval

  12. You're definitely hot for the ultimate level This schould be an easy walk through SIMPLY AMAZING !!!
  13. Welcome to the ranks, Trooper Tony !!! Also saw your Centurion application
  14. Hi Amir, I see you prefer Snap-Strapping as I do. A small problem that I had was preventing the butt plate (especially the right side) to overlap the kidney plate as it is with your armor. My suggestion: Try to modify the right and left strap by pulling a strong wire through the elastic and wrapping it around the snaps on both sides as shown in the pics. I hope you'll get it. The little problem was to get the wire behind the elastic in order to hide it ... Best of Luck for your request
  15. Best of luck! I think this will be an easy way
  16. Always wanted to be able to write this ... ... Welcome to the ranks, Ty !!! Well done
  17. Hi Spycee, it's true: It looks better but the most accurate way is having the junction at the back I had a short discussion on that with a Garrison mate when I did that with my Incinerator helmet ...
  18. Thank you also for that, Sir Looking forward for the next troop! CU
  19. You're welcome! And you can see what a power failure is good for
  20. Thank you Mathias ... also for the quickly produced certificate
