Now the newbie starts building!
KaitoTrooper replied to KaitoTrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Today was the big day. First test fitting of the strapped armor. What I is wrong: 1) The chest and the back are a bit slopping. 2) The butt (edit.: actually kidney) plate slips over the abdomen plate. 3) The chest slips under the butt (kidney) plate when I move. So there is still a lot of work to do and maybe you could comment the armor And as always at this point: Photo of all parts! -

I was keeping them because i saw that on one of Mark's suits (I guess so, not sure anymore), but when they are such a problem, I should really remove them. Unfortunately I have some classes to attend and I won't be home until Thursday. Anyway, I can finally see an end! Sent from the shield generator on Endor -

Good, since nobody complained, I took that as an ok For now, I have widened the shins. The fronts are now 20 mm to 25 mm wide. It is still pretty hard to fit the boots under them and my ankles do not really have room. The only option here I see is removing the return edges I left. My TD Clips are almost here and I really hope, I can finish everything during the easter weekend. What is next now? Correcting Biceps and forearms plus strapping them and cleaning everything with Spirit. -

I thought to myself "before you start anything that is hard to redo, show your progress", so here we go! Fully assebled thighs. They actually fit me (I might change this opinion while wearing the full armor but for now)! Anything to do better, except cleaning? Aaand a sideway picture I could not resist taking -

Vader, we have a problem. Finshed my shins and the looked good at first, but now I have tried them on and they are hellish thight! The only option to fix this, I think, is to open them up again and leave some more room in the front, but I'm open for any better options -

Yeah, I've got no problems with too tight armour My problem here is the egg-form the biceps gets. I mean, I still can put it on, but it does not look very neat. Sent from the shield generator on Endor -

I really don't know how you get your parts round. Mine always end up, well... Open for any kind of advice -
Looks stunning! But did you apply white trim on the neck area of your back-plate? It looks a bit strange to me. Sent from the shield generator on Endor

You can use a zipper, too. I like that better than velcro. Sent from the shield generator on Endor Looking forward to see the finished armor!

Phew So I've got that one going. Second biceps is nearly trimmed. Oh.. and it seems that all reference pictures are coming together in my tread, not that I would complain It's nice not to have to open another tab -

As promised - the biceps. I also tried some padding inside since I am a skinny and wanted to leave some room for growth Is that ok? -

Time to bug you again... I've finished both forearms and wanted to start glueing the tights, but JC's build kinda confused me, so I'll show you: outer tights one untrimmed, one trimmed. inner thights one trimmed, one untrimmed. Did I do something wrong in trimming or is it just because JC is mor muscular than I am? Also: This is the correct way of assembling, isn't it? Pictures of biceps incoming soon. -

The rest of the glue is really not a problem As I could read in Rich's build thread it comes off quite well, so I was not worried about spilling it. And it definately needs some cosmetic corrections. Sent from the shield generator on Endor -
Ouch! But you did a great job - it looks absolutely stunning. Hope you can fix the problems soon.

Well, it wont' win a price for beauty, but I have finished my first forearm! The second forearm is still in progress and I've nearly done trimming the thights. Back to the scissors! -

Okeydokey so I can start glueing today! Next thing is the biceps and shins. I hope, I won't have problems with too much space there. -

Just some testing in putting the forearm together. I feel a bit loos inside. Maye I should trim it down a little more? Comparing to other troopers it looks ok (and I want to leave some room in case I finally start getting some weight). -

Ok, thank you Next time I'll cut right beneath this line so I won't have this problem. Currenty cutting the biceps and the inner one is a PAIN! Oh and the liner is secured. I did this quite inconventional with velcro dots so I can remove it for cleaning or replacing... seems to work. -

How could someone possibly call you an egomaniac? You are my lifesaver! How could I have overread that?? Hmm... So this is how it looks like: There are approx. 20mm on the other side so that wi work, but should I cut here? (note: this is how it arrived). -

Last weekend I managed to put the trim on the armor parts. Not perfect, but ok. I also tried to assemble one forearm, but I must have cut the parts wrong. I am afraid that if I trim it further down, there will be no material for glueing. I know this sounds stupid, but I am extremely afraid of messing the whole thing up. I've been reading and reading, did my research as I could, but here I am stuggling with my first armor part to glue... I am sorry. -

No I didn't. Schould have put my arms up. Tried this some time ago and the gap slightly disappears. Something different: Please tell me I am goofing, but aren't there two left inner thights? -

It has been quite quiet lately, so I tried some test-fitting. Sorry, the photographer must have been drunk I think, I am a little bit thin, but I hope it will also work. And, of course, the chest is too low. Move along... -
Looks amazing! Another one building a RotJ is sweet
